Wont go up or down window mazda tribute - 2002 Mazda Tribute

If you replaced the motor with new one and you are positive that the switch is good and energizing the motor then there has to be some sort of obstruction that is preventing the motor from properly raising the window. U sure that the motor is receiving power - just does not make any sense.

Start with the basics. could be something as simple as the fuse. I have a 03 Tribute so i guess it is the same model as yours! if so. The fuse can be found in the fuse box in the passenger footwell. There is a small inspection plastic cover in the kick panel. if you un clip the cover, on the reverse side you will find a tool that clips onto the mini blade fuses to extract them (very useful). Also on the reverse side of the cover is a list of the fuses and to what it relates. The rear wiper fuse from memory is approx a 1/4 of the way down the left column of fuses 10A but just confirm on the list. Mini blade fuses are usually coloured but transparent so you will be able to see if the fuse element is still in tact, but always best to double check with a continuity meter. Hope this helps. Pull the door panel and use the hot wire off the switch (You might need some wire for this) But connect the hot wire to the window motor it self!!! and it should roll up if not you got a bad window motor!!!

I would look on the dashboard for a button labled rear window or on the center console. If you have the truck manual in the glove box, go to the index and it will tell you what page to look.

The rear door lock actuator needs to be replaced. If you have the dealer do it you will pay $300.00+. If you do it, you can do it in an hour for about $20.00. Just buy a universal actuator kit that looks similar to the one already in there from the factory. Do A Google Search on "Mazda Tribute Rear Door Lock Actuator" to find sources for them.

This is a VERY common problem on Ford Escapes and Mazda Tributes, all years. I am surprised there has not been a recall on this.

Go to the auto parts store and ask for advice (They are usually very helpful especially Advanced Auto Parts) or purchase a can of dw40 or similar lubricating product and spray the seat metal joints under the seat.
As to the window, if it's squeaking where the glass meets the rubber spray the rubber or treat it with armor all.

the problem is probably an idle air control valve. its a cheap fix. the body is ford the motor is mazda.
