Open up the hood. On the lens assembly there will be a couple of screws holding it in place. Loosen or remove these and pull the whole lens out the front of the vehicle. From there you can access the lamp for replacement.
I just want you to know that you are not crazy or blind!
The reason you cannot find any screws is because you are dealing with a snap-together vehicle. If you only want to replace the bulb, you can reach around the radiator support and twist the bulb retainer to remove it and the bulb. If you are wanting to replace the ENTIRE headlamp assembly, follow the instructions below.
REMOVAL
Grasp lower edge of headlamp lens and pull straight back (away) from Grille Opening Reinforcement (GOR) . Disengage lower adjuster pivots from lens assembly. Grasp upper edge of headlamp lens. Pull straight back (away) from grille opening reinforcement (GOR). Disengage upper adjuster pivot from lens assembly. Rotate bulb lock ring counter clockwise. and remove ring and bulb from lens. INSTALLATION
Replace by seating the assembly in the lamp housing and turning the lock ring 1/8 turn clockwise to secure. Align upper adjust pivot into headlamp opening and snap into place. Snap lower adjuster pivots into place.
Locate the two headlight lens assembly retaining screws at the top of each side of the assembly.
Remove each screw with the ratchet and a suitable socket.
Place the screwdriver behind the lens assembly to assist in prying out the guide pins that secure and align the headlight assembly. Hold the lens assembly from the outside edge (marker light/directional light section) first and pry from behind with the screwdriver to unseat the guide pins. Pry from the inside end of the lens assembly to unseat the other guide pin.
Pull the lens assembly out far enough to reach behind it and disconnect the headlight bulb wire harness from the back of the bulb. Or simply remove the bulb by twisting the harness and retaining ring counterclockwise and remove it as an assembly.
Turn the marker light/directional light socket and wire counterclockwise to remove it from the headlight lens assembly.
Remove the assembly from the front of the Stratus.
The cover/lens is not designed to come off. You can try putting the entire light assembly in an oven on low heat for a few minutes, that may soften the adhesive enough to allow the lens to be pried off. There are kits available from auto parts stores to restore the lens.
One comment - having just replaced a bulb. After you remove the two screws - the assemby will be loose, but doesn't just slide back. There is a plastic pressure fitting that will hold the assembly in place. Applying force to pull the assembly out caused me to crack the plastic panel where the two screws go. So don't do that! I found that applying a bit of pressure - via a flat tip screwdriver - between the assembly and the car body "popped" the plastic pressure fitting and allowed me to change the bulb. I was applying pressure to drive the assembly toward the rear of the car(and slightly up). Reassembly was just a matter of 1) gluing the cracked plastic back in place 2) aligning the white plastic pressure fitting into its receiver and 3) replacing the screws and covers. Hope this was helpful
head light assembly has four ball and sockets to hold it in place ,grab a hold and pull straight foward ,put greese on balls win putting back in to make it easier next time...
For the brake light open the rear hatch and check beside the tail light. I believe ther is 2 phillips head screws right where the light meets the rear hatch on the body panel. remove them and gently yet firmly pull the lens assembly from the corner of the rear body panel. Squeeze the clips on the back of the socket and twist to remove the socket from the lens. Push gently on the bulb and turn carefully to remove light from the socket replace the light and reverse removal procedure to install.
I had the HARDEST time with the lights...I never realized changing a bulb would be so difficult. Once you unscrew what you need to, go into the trunk and pull the lining away from the back part of the light. There are the white prongs that you will need to tap with a hammer until they pop out and then the light assembly will come out. Be careful though, I got a little too impatient and broke mine. I used a binding agent to hold it back in place though...GOOD LUCK!
