Four cylinder engine, firing order is 1-3-4-2. Spark plug wires (4 for intake side, 4 for exhaust side), beginning with 1I (at very front of distributor): 1I - 2E - 3I - 1E - 4I - 3E - 2I - 4E. Distributor rotates counter clockwise.
Six cylinder engine, firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6, cylinders 1, 3 and 5 on right side of engine, cylinders 2, 4 and 6 on left side of engine. Distributor rotates counter clockwise.
Hi, The Silver Spur engine you have fitted should be of a V-8 configuration, Four cylinders on one side and four on the other. Rolls Royce calls these banks of cylinders; A bank and B bank respectively. So which one is which? well A bank is one inch further forward than B bank due to the way the connecting rods join the crankshaft.
Each Bank of cylinders are numbered 1 to 4, so A bank is A1, A2, A3 and A4 and B Bank is B1, B2, B3 and B4. Cylinder A1 (the one at the front of the engine), is the first to fire, so time the engine to the firing point of this cylinder to time your ignition. After that the Cylinders will fire in this order:-
A1, B1, A4, B4, B2, A3, B3, A2.
if this is a four cylinder engine it will be the one further from the fan belt, check the spark plug but it also can be the ignition coil for that cylinder.
This would be the forth cylinder from the front(where the pulleys, and belts are). There will be a coil, and under the coil,is a boot, connected to the spark plug. The miss fire could be any,of the three.I would replace the spark plugs (all four)and the boots. Then if the miss fire is still there, replace the coil,on number four cylinder.
no, if you have a coil pack, and one cylinder is not firing then you will need to relace coil pack, if you have individual coils (coil over plug) the you can just replace the coil associated with that cylinder.
Four cylinder firing order: 1-3-4-2 Cylinder #1 is in the front and #4 is in the back.
Six-cylinder firing order: 1-6-5-4-3-2 Cylinder #1, 3 and 5 are on the driver side with #1 in the front and #5 in the back. Cylinder #2, 4 and 6 are on the passenger side with #2 in the front and #6 in the back.
If you have any other questions please ask. Be sure to rate me a "Fix Ya". Thanks.
The firing order on all four cylinder engines is 1.3.4.2. and number one cylinder is at the opposite end of the engine to the gearbox, at the end with the belts and pulleys.
