I always start my '88 RX7 with a 2 start procedure. First start is short about 3 engine revs...second time it always starts.
If I don't do that it cranks & cranks.....try it.

1987 RX7 Turbo cranks but does not starts. Was not getting fuel to system so, I jumped pump and works ok but, still not starting. Power in coils, ignition and pump OK. ?????? Need the car ASAP! Any HELP...

I use to run my own switch for the fuel pump. Leave the power off to the pump for about 10 mins. Then power it up then start engine. If this doesn't work use a little starting fluid. If that doesn't start the engine check to make sure you are getting spark to the plug. If you are check the compression.

Have a 88 rx7 floods out replaced coils plugs wires cap and rotor have also replaced fuel injectors. engine did start several times with intake removed but floods out with it installed

do you put your foot on the accelerator while cranking ???
rotors flood easily so dont be too worried if everything checks out
- voltage to coil packs are correct
- coil pack resistance is correct
- autochokes not jammed shut
- plugs are the correct type
- ht leads are measuring under 20k ohms
- what size fuel injectors are fitted...standard? a/market? impedence higher or lower than original? is cc rating higher tahn factory??

Engine wont start

Engine is flooded. Car must be taken to Mazda Dealer to have computer reset(flashed). I have a 2004 that needs this done about 3-5 times/year. Weird but true.

I have a 1988 rx-7 with new motor it dies at around 3000 rpm

actually no it wouldnt immediately. As long as all your fuel and air lines are hooked up (i.e. vaccum) your fine! Because 1988 didnt have a programmed sync with it's computer to run with or without the turbo it has little affect. But, it will lag your power after you start sometimes it will shut off. But it does run without it. A turbo system is just a superman air induction system. Thats all.I have seen one drive without Turbo. Why would you need to run it without turbo anyways?
Hope this helps more than the other guy commenting.
