I have a mercedes R320 cdi 2007 I drove home with the CD on one night, in the morning when I started the car the radio/nav looks like it needs codeing, as there are 4 stars showing, the unit shows the mercedes sign when switched on, but cancels after 20/30 seconds mercedes say they have never seen this before?

Sounds to be a loose or corroded wire/s at either starter motor or at battery fusible links.
Also check the earth strap (Cable) between engine and bodywork.

Not sure about the European version, but the American factory version will not play video DVD's while the vehicle is in motion, (Drivers area) due to laws against this. Also...just to cover the non-factory installs, most aftermarket indash DVD players have a safety switch which prevents the driver from playing DVD movies while driving the vehicle. The vehicle must be in park for the DVD player to play a movie.
