Why does our dash info say rear access open and how do you fix it?

Hi. Fuse block located under the rear seat. For access remove the seat and open the plastice cover.


Fuse number 21 is responsible for the audio system and radio.

What should we guess at for you?

A failed button on the dash you push to open the trunk?

A failed trunk electric latch assy?

A blown fuse & the need to find out why & not keep
replacing it?

Does it open with the key, assuming most, if not all vehicles,
have a key cylinder?

You do realize all vehicles have to be tested to even find a problem
& that can only be done once you have access to the info needed to
learn how things work.

ususal locations are..under the dash(near drivers knees or passengers knees)..or on side of dash(open front doors..look for access panel to pull)..or under your hood in engine compartment.

Rear door lock swith assembly needs to be replaced.

Easy stuff first. Try replacing the #9 fuse on the interior fuse panel. This fuse protects the instrument panel, license, parking and tail light circuits. The panel is located under the dash to the left of the steering column. You will need to pry off the cover on the panel to access the fuses. The fuse you want is a 15 amp fuse located directly under the turn signal flasher. It should be easy to figure out which fuse it is because it will be 'blown' or open. This is easy to determine just by looking at the fuse once it's removed. And, if you aren't sure what's what, I'm sure you can find a diagram of this fuse panel somewhere on the Internets if you look around a little. I took this info out of the Owner Manual from my own '94 Vic. If this doesn't solve the problem I would suggest taking your Vic to a shop and letting them take a look at it.

You got it right, there is a 'door' that opens and closes under the dash to change cooled or heated air flow to the interior vents. A vacuum line either disconnected, or is leaking somewhere, and is most likely responsible for the lack of a/c. You are going have to hunt around to try and find where the leaking/disconnected line is to repair it. It's not going to be a fun job. You can access diagrams and info on your car (for a fee) at alldatadiy. Look under HVAC system to see the info you need. Good luck.

Try replacing the ignition wiring harness in the steering column. These wires control I think everything electrical. I did and it fixed my problems.
