Loses Acceleration 01 Buick Century - 48K miles When I pull onto our main thoroughfare from our residential street and step on the gas, the car does not accelerate and in fact it seems to lose speed. It almost felt like I had knocked it into neutral. (which I hadn't)

2007 Saturn VUE losing power

Hi,

it sounds like there might be an issue with your breaks or breakpads sticking whenever you decelerate from high speeds. Try "pump breaking" or applying the breaks for short bursts of time in order to slow down to see if this dodges the issue. If so, I would still get the break pad or system checked while still mentioning the full issue to the technician. Thank you.

When i step on the gas the car vibrates and shakes

Is the engine running smoothly? Does it only vibrate when loaded? If so, then Yes, check the motor mounts. While you or a tech are underneath get your driveline and suspension mounts checked. A bad suspension mount could give the same symptoms. You don't say how many miles but if its anywhere near 100k then mounts are a definite possibility.

1991 Buick Century Limited 3.3L, 94,300 miles; stalls under load.

There should be a purple wire with white tracer from ignition module to computer. That wire carries rpm signal to computer, w/o that signal, the computer won't ground the fuel injectors. With the engine cranking, you look for a dc pulse on that wire. If you have a digital multimeter that has a tach--duty cycle or dwell setting, it should react to a dc pulse.
My info on your model year, isn't that great.

My 1997 buick century has trouble exceeding 25 mph

Sounds like it could be the fuel filter. Typically when they get clogged the car will run but can't get enough gas during hard acceleration (it sputters) or can't go too fast ( it just dies out and then picks up again ) . You can try replacing it ( follow the gas line from the tank to find it ), they're not expensive, just be careful when you take it off, the gas can squirt all over.

When should i change the oil in a 01 buick century

Same as on all your vehicles
When ever you like

I would suggest 3 to 4 times a year
depending on how many miles you go

Average--about 3,000 to 4,500 miles
between changes

I would use 5W-30 Full Syn,any brand

Mobil one does a good job of keeping
the oil pan at least clean,I have pulled a couple
It is at Wal Mart

1997 buick century 84500 miles regular maintanance, oil change every 3000 miles. son taking trip in it. never had radiator flushed, plugs changed, transmission fluid changed, should i have concerns on...

Yes, this is very important maintenance procedures. Transmission should be serviced (filter, oil, and oil pan gasket replaced) @ 60K miles, plugs at 100K miles (I'd replace them early for better gas mileage), and radiator flushed @ 60K miles. Hopefully this helps!!

My son filled the tank of his 97 buick century and within 10 miles the car started bogging down (and stalling) on acceleration. The behavior is the same regardles of whether the vehicle is in motion or at...

dirty fuel fiter, yes. But also certain models require mid or premium grade gasoline. regular unleaded has more water in it than premium. Hense the pinging. When was the last time you have your fuel injectors cleaned. Try adding a gas treatment like STP gas treatment/fuel injector cleaner, that should help. If it continues then its the fuel filter or the fuel pump is also going out.

97 buick century sputtering and stalling

He has gotten a bad load of fuel. Try a can of dry gas to emulsify the water, but if there is too much for the dry gas to handle, the tank may have to be cleaned. I would also replace the fuel filter also, the gas may also be dirty enough to restrict the filter.
