I need to check my 1996 acent manual transmission oil , where do I fill up with oil?

I'm not a mechanic guru but be sure, if you have no oil in transmission, your system is definitively damaged.
Fill the oil but, I guess, it's too late, damage is done.
If still won't move, tow it to your repair service, probablbly you'll have to spend some good money repairing it.

There's no dipstick for the transmission for those model year. There is a check/fill plug on the left hand side of the transaxle casing. You need the remove the plug and the oil level should be up to the lower edge of the hole.

Note : The plug is quite big, 19mm socket or so, located close the the steering rack, a little more than halfway up the casing. If I remember correctly, it uses the same gasket as the oil pan plug. Make sure everything is clean all around before removing. There should be another one at the lowest spot for drainage. Make sure you get the right oil (see owners manual). Fill using a seringe or squirting throught a plastic tube.

Hi there,

All Honda manual transaxles use the Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (MTF) as the original factory fill. This oil is similar to a 10W-30 or 10W-40 viscosity engine oil, and this oil can be substituted temporarily. However, the manufacturer recommends the use of their MTF when changing the fluid.

Level Check

The transaxle fluid should be changed every 90,000 miles (144,000 km) or 6 years under normal driving conditions. In severe driving conditions the fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or every 2 years, whichever occurs first.
Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface. If the vehicle is raised, make sure the vehicle is safely supported and level

NOTE: Do not confuse the drain plug with the fill plug.
The fill plug is in the mid section of the transaxle. The drain plug is near the bottom of the transaxle.

1. The oil level is checked by removing the oil fill plug on the side of the transaxle. The transaxle fluid should just meet the lower threads of the transaxle fill hole.
2. Remove the oil level check bolt from the side of the transaxle. If oil runs out, or if oil can be felt near the threaded fill hole opening, reinstall and retighten the bolt to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
3. If the level needs to be topped off, pour oil in slowly until it begins to run out then, install and tighten the filler bolt to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).

On a 5 speed manual transmission. On the Left side of the trans-axle, Half way Up you will find the filler plug. Remove the plug. You can check with your finger. If you can not touch the lube oil you need to fill it.

the drain and fill ports are on the transmission itself. the lower plug is for draining and there should be a fill plug a few inches above that.

This asian Car has no dipstick on transmission / gear box. Instead, it has two holes bottom and upper bolts. The lower bolt is the drain plug and the latter is filling bolt. How we know the filling level then? Just tighten your drain plug and fill it with gear oil until it going flooded a bit. Then tighten your filling plug.

The fill plug is just over the axle under the car. You need to put the car on a lift or have the fluid checked when you have the motor oil changed

If you look at the transmission, you will find a drain plug on the bottom, look for a similar plug on the side of the transmission, take out plug and if oil is at the bottom of side plug hole, trans is full, if not refill here until oil is running out of hole, reinstall plug.

If it is an automatic, which I assume it is since you're looking for a dipstick, it needs a special fixture to add fluid(Dealer or foreign auto mechanic) or check level. If it's a manual trans, there is a check/fill plug on the end of the transmission behind the driver's side front tire, probably takes a 17mm internal hex head socket. Use 75W/90 gear oil, filling the trans until oil just starts to overflow through the hole.
