May be the fuel cut off switch under the kickpanel

What engine computer fault codes do you have, if you have not done scan for fault codes do that. Also check fuel pressure under a load.

up to 1997 it was still on the side of the gearbox
looks like it went full plastic after 1997

cant see why ford would change its location in 1998

That's an '09. This is an emissions issue. Your vehicle is covered by an emissions warranty until the year 2019. Use that warranty, don't pay to get this fixed.

if you had an Engine compartment Fire, then it is Much easier to replace the Compartment Loom and Less Grief down the Road, trying to Splice all that Spaghetti You should be able to get a decent Compartment loom for Any decent Junk yard. for a few hundred.Now will save you thousands in a Year when everything starts to lose connection

You know the check light is on & is where you start

There is no resetting a check light
All your doing is clearing all data needed to diagnose
any issues

Easiest way is to go to Autozone or Oreillys and get a free scan. Your onboard computer will store problems for 20 to 30 starts, then lose them.
