It does cycle off around 30psi. The diagram i have doesn't show and orbvice tube/screen. We did blow through the line with compressed air, to check for restrictions and debry but didn't seem restricted and the white rag was clean after we blew through it. This is my daily driver and i run the system to and from work. In the heat of the day it's decent not freezing but cool. The evaporator does sweat a lot. It pores out the tube pretty good. the low end hose is cool and sweating and the high end is warm. It's really got us stumped.
Also check to make sure that both the electric fans behind the radiator/condenser assembly are running with the A/C on. You can also improve the system performance by cleaning out the A/C condenser unit. It sits in front of the radiator. With the engine running and the A/C engaged, spray water from a garden hose through all the finning of the A/C condenser for 2-4 minutes. This will clear out any dead bugs and debris on the condenser or trapped between the condenser and the radiator. Cleaning the condenser every other month will greatly increase the life of your compressor.

You may have a blend door leaking and allowing heater core heat to blend into the AC cooled air stream. Check it out.
There is a fixed orifice but it may be part of the high pressure line, do you have a factory service manual?? You mentioned you converted to R134, on certain cars that works great with cheap kits that most auto parts stores sell, but the factory kit always has a different condenser, cooling fan and other control related switches, all the factory kits are not the same, some use allot of parts over, but most have you change the fixed orifice or the line it is crimped in, older cars had a vacuum suction valve that did the same thing as a fixed orifice, but they went out use years ago because they were expensive to make, a fixed orifice is cheap, a few dollars. Either that is the problem or the compressor has and issue or the charge is not right, either over or under, remember you can't use a site glass to verify full charge with R134, it must be measured, it takes less R134 than R12 to fill the system. Also R134 is not as good at cooling as R12, that is why the large parts like a condenser in the factory changeover kits, hope some of this info helps.
