Sounds like the car started to misfire. You should have the car scanned for fault codes. An ignition coil or ignition wire set failure would cause this.
P0305 is a # 5 cylinder misfire , do you know what that is ? Check engine light flashing indicates a severe misfire that can damage the catalytic converter . Don't drive this vehicle ,take it immediately to a qualified repair shop or the dealer .
A Ford P0171 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 1, and P0174 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 2. These codes commonly occur on many Ford vehicles, and are set when the powertrain control module (PCM) sees the air/fuel mixture is running too lean (too much air, not enough fuel).
sounds like your automatic transmission is stuffed, take it to a mechanic for a second opinion but it seems to me like you'll need to either rebuild or replace the transmission
Pull the MAF sensor and give it a cleaning the correct way.Sometimes something shorts those probes(tiny wires and delicate) and your engine will cut a shine on you.
Look up how to clean the MAF sensor if you don't know how. don-ohio
correct thinking
the car has an onboard code reporting system that stores fault codes
have the fault codes read and that will point you to the fault area
all the suggested are not correct because you say that it idles
i'm thinking a faulty brake booster or other serious vacuum leak
Problem is not solved but I did change the fuel filter, coil pack,ICM and have proper fuel pressure to the motor. Car starts but dies right away. I cant seem to find out if the fob on the key ring has something to do with stopping the motor. This fob says Radio Key by Secure Key with a number 35077 stamped on this thing.. Still trying to find out what this is and does it effect the cars ability to run
I had the same problem. I would get to a red light or stop sign, and my tach would go to 1000, then 500 then, if I didn't rev the motor, it would die. It turned out to be a vacuum leak. A rubber elbow shaped 1" line on the top of the motor, toward the front, but underneath the black plastic linkage cover (3 screws to remove). I don't hear that well, but I had a friend listen, and he could hear the sucking/hissing sound. The rubber elbow slides over two pipes; one that is going to the front of the vehicle, then turns right and connects to a second pipe going to the driver's side. If not this line, look for others. Good luck!
