GMC 4.3 runs fine when cold, after 5 minutes, 150 degrees, parking brake light comes on? truck stalls, no sputtering just dies. Wont restart until cool again. Replaced the usual suspects, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pump relay, fuel pressure regulator, throttle positioning sensor, cleaned the throttle body, tested the ignition module (ok). just did notice the parking brake light thing.....any suggestions?
My 05 GMC Envoy will just die and wont restart for up to 2 days when it does start it will only run for about 30 minutes and will die again, the ignition switch and fuel pump have been checked and are fine we have replaced the ecm andcrank position sensor have been replaced and it is still doing the same thingMy 05 GMC Envoy will just die and wont restart for up to 2 days when it does start it will only run for about 30 minutes and will die again, the ignition switch and fuel pump have been checked and are fine we have replaced the ecm andcrank position sensor have been replaced and it is still doing the same thing

I recommend you hook up a scanner and view the data coming off the tps, map, etc. while driving. I'm thinking the tps may be going out and does not drop properly when you take your foot off the pedal. The pcm may not be engaging the iac until the truck dies and is restarted. You need live data to solve this problem.
The temperature gauge on ALL car should always start at the extreme cold end, because of the accuracy range of the sensing device.
Your sputtering and stalling might be a automatic choke problem.
Knowing this will happen you can brake with your left foot and press the accelerator just enough to prevent the stall, when you have to stop.
Get a can of carburetor cleaner, take the filter / intake cowling off, and spray all moving parts of the carb really well.
bad need of a tuneup? like new spark plugs, ?
172 , is 02 rich/ lean warning. this one is low oxy for rich.
this code can just be a victim. for sure , with misfire.
means 02 sensor stuck at rich,
what is water temp in engine coolant, at failure? less than 150F?
could be lots of things.
leaking injectors, bad fuel.
injector sticking> causing misfire.
id use a scan tool and watch all sensor when it fails.
too high fuel pressure.
misfires cold, but only luke warm cold starts not fully cold.
just one DTC, no P0300 or 30x misfire codes, not even P0300 pendings?
A common problem with Ford products built in the 1980s is the ignition module mounted on the distributor. You will need to figure out if it is a fuel problem or ignition problem to proceed.
It sounds like your alternator might be starting to go bad and the Battery Light is coming on because it is not charging the battery correctly. Have your Alternator checked with a volt meter, it should be reading 13 to 14 volts if working correctly. If not, replace your alternator.
My 2000 Grand Cherokee had the same problem, without all the sputtering, it would just die approaching a stop. We could only keep it running by slightly pushing down on the gas petal when coming to a stop. I replaced the Throttle Position Sensor, but that didn't change anything. A new mechanic I found replaced the Idle Air Control Valve, and we've had no problems in a week.
sounds like its not accident related, more like a idle air control motor or something of that nature, ive also herd of this happening when the crank sensor is going bad, it warms up and starts missing the signal.
