1998 Plymouth Voyager drivers side sliding rear door will not open. I have removed the inner panel, checked the linkage and everything appears fine. I deduce that the rear latch mechanism is jammed. Replacing the latch would be easy enough with the door open, but the bolts are in the door jam. So. Getting the door open is the problem. I'm thinking on, removing the rear panel and unbolting the strike pin, But if there is a stud that is very long then the strike pin will not separate from the body of the door jam cleanly. This can't be the first time that this has happened to ont of these vans. Exerything can be fixed as sure as it is built. Advice?

Is the door latch mechanism moving and moving far enough to release the latch to open the door, you can`t remove the the striker plate from inside a panel as the bolts that hold the plate go in from the open side of the door jam, these do have a problem with the doors coming off the rails which mean that if this is the problem then the weight of the door will hinder the door from opening you may have to hit the door hard at the latch end of the door or even pry the door open at the same end to get the latch to pop open.the latch may even be seized or just jammed closed. good luck

2017 Vauxhall Vivaro. The side door won't open from inside and outside. Central locking sounds like it's working. All other doors work fine.

If you can hear the central locking mechanism in that door, then a linkage inside must have come adrift. You would have to remove the panel and look. It appears to be a known issue!!

I had the same problem with a side door on a Ford Aerostar! You have to remove the inner door panel to gain access to the linkage! It is very difficult, but can be done. It mite get broken taking it off, but it is the best way to get to the linkage to unlock the door. I broke mine in two, but was able to locate one at a salvage yard very inexpensive, so it was worth it. found out the linkage had come unhooked, and a clip was broken. Door works fine now!! Hope this info helps!

I recently purchased a used 03 Chevy Venture van. The passenger sliding door doesn't open. It worked for 1 week and stopped. The driver side sliding door has a broken handle so I'm able to open that door...

Pain but fixable. Sounds like the linkage is not connected. Even a mechanic will have to remove the door panel and fight with it. If you can remove the rear seat from the drivers side side door then you might have room to remove the passenger side door panel to fix it. Usually clips are the first thing to break on door handle/latch linkages
