You don`t say what motor is in this so here is a basic procedure, find the fuel rail where the fuel lines connect to at the intake manifold.disconnect the fuel lines(be carefull you could get gas in your eyes from fuel spray or start a fire due to hot engine)these lines have high pressure fuel in them.look at the fuel rails to see what all is in the way to remove them and remove interferance items.remove the bolts that hold the rails to the intake manifold, gently lift wiggle the fuel rails and you may have to pry up on the rails in places to get them to come out with the injectors attached the rails.you should make sure any debris is removed from around the injectors so no dirt falls into the injector holes before you remove.then you can remove the injector to rail lock clips and remove the injectors from the rails.clean areas were the injectors will be going apply either gas or silicone on the injector O rings then install injectors to rail install lock clips and reassemble.replace all the O rings as they get dried out brittle and crack or split.re-install removed components start car and check for fuel leaks.

I need to replace the #2 fuel injector. Is this something a layman such as I can accomplish?

You could do it, but remember gasoline is flammable and volatile and can be hazardous to work with: REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION 1.9L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Fuel rail
    • Fuel injector retaining clip off the injector
    • Fuel injector
    • Fuel injector O-rings and discard them Fig. 1: Fuel injector identification-1.9L engine 9306zg58.gif
To install: NOTE: The SOHC and DOHC fuel injectors are not interchangeable. The injectors are identified by a color coded plastic ring near the bottom of the injector. The SOHC injector has a blue ring near the O-ring that mates to the intake manifold and the DOHC has a pink ring.
  4. Lubricate the new fuel injector O-ring with clean engine oil.
  5. Install or connect the following:
    • New O-ring seals on the fuel injector
    • Retaining clip to the fuel injector
    • Fuel injector to the fuel rail
    • Fuel rail
    • Negative battery cable
  6. Start the vehicle and check for leaks, repair if necessary.
