2002 mitsubishi galant starts and drives but then if u shut it off abd go to start back up it just cranks. Sometimes u gotta wIt a few days then it will start. What can this be

I went through a the same problem with a Toyota it would start perfect in morning and if I shut it off it wouldn't start hot anyway I would be willing to be it's the ect(engine coolant temperature) sensor. If your car has 2 it's the one for the computer

Has it overheated lately?
My wife overheated our Galant and it just stopped working, it cranks but that's it.
I pulled the sparkplugs and found them wrapped in a gewey jelly like substance. Like an oil/antifreeze combo.
I am going to replace the entire motor for $1000 as taking it to the mechanics to theorize and practice may cost more.
I will have to check thank you though
