Coil spring:
buy/rent a spring compressor.
hook it upside down over the second last coils of the spring(second last coil of the unbroken part) (bolt heads down and accessible) so that the compressor clears the spring seats.
Use all parts of the compressor.
Do up the spring compressor till it is just tight.

Put the car up on a 2 post, as the load comes off the suspension the spring will tighten in the compressor and flop around loose on the strut. Unbolt the top strut mounts. lower the axle until there is clearance and lift the spring off the strut.
Slowly take the tension off the spring compressor
Put the new spring in the spring compressor, (second last coils to clear the spring seats when reinstalling).
tighten the spring compressor, evenly and compress the spring, till it fits over the strut.
lift the axle, bolt on the top strut mounts, slowly release spring compressor, ensure top n bottom spring coils seat in the spring seats.
lower two post hoist
test drive

Always replace springs together as a pair

Howdo go about changing the thermosat on a 2005 trailblazer

These are a real pain in the ****, I ain't going to sugar coat it. Jack up the drivers side and remove the tire. You will than be able to see the housing on the drivers front of the engine. The hose clamp and the lower bolt can be acceded through the wheel well. Remove the serp belt and the alternator. It will make getting the top bolt and the housing in and out a lot easier.

How to change the globe to the headlight of my Kia Pregio GS 2005 van

To replace headlight bulb of kia pregio van: You only need Phillips screw driver and 10mm socket or open wrench. Open the hood, remove front grill with 4 phillips screw. This will give you room for your hand to pull out the headlight housing later on. Next is remove the signal light housing by unscrewing the phillips screw on top of the headlight housing then pull out the signal light housing and remove the bulb. You will see 2 pcs 10mm bolts on the side which hold the headlight. Loosened and remove the bolts on headlight holder then pull the headlight sideward. Remove power supply socket before removing it completely from the van. Remove bulb socket, spring clip, and busted bulb and replace with new one. Reassemble the disassembled parts in reverse order. That's it, will take you only 10 minutes.

Can I drive a Pontiac Grand Prix with a broken rear stabilizer safely?

By rear stabilizer, do you mean trailing arm or sway bar? If you have a busted trailing arm, I highly advise against driving. This is the bar that runs from the wheel hub transversely toward the front of the car and attaches to the frame. However, a busted rear sway bar, which runs transversely across the vehicle and runs along side the leaf spring, isn't as severe of an problem. You will just run into spongy turning issues.

Replacing the shocks & struts

If your not very mechanically inclined , Its best & safe for you & others not to try to change out struts. But if you are inclined, then this is what you need to do the job. Struts are shock absorbers that are inside of a highly compressed spring. You will need spring compressors that you can buy or rent at your local auto parts stores. You need to compress the spring before removing the center shock. If you do not compress the spring sufficiently the shock can come out at a high rate of speed causing injury to you & others. You will need to compress the spring from both sides, ( opposite from each other ) if you install a spring compressor on one side just put the other tool right across from it on the same spring. compressing the spring evenly on both sides. Not all at one time just on one side of the spring. After doing so remove the top & bottom nuts of the shock. Your rented or bought spring compressor should come with directions & illastrations to better assist you with the job. Good Luck.

Have a 89gmc sub 5.7ltr efi, howdo i remove the top off dist .that covers ecm, looks to be riveted?

They do look a little like rivets. But they are L shaped screws. Using a
reg. sloted screw driver push down and turn counter clockwise on the
screws away from the dist. Do this on all 4 screws and remove the cap.
The springs will keep the screws in place. Also while you're in there check the 2 wires to the magnetic pickup. They would break inside the
insulation, from the constant flexing back and forth. This was a common
problem for gm's of that era. Hope this helps.

Front spring

Raise and safely support the vehicle.
Remove the tire/wheel assembly.
Remove any brackets or sway bar endlinks that may be attached to the strut.
Remove upper strut mount bolts (NOT THE BIG ONE IN THE CENTER) Should be three bolts.
Remove two strut to knuckle bolts and remove the strut.
Using an external spring compressor tool compress the spring. FOLLOW THE TOOL MANUFACTURES INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. COIL SPRINGS HOLD A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF POTENTIAL ENERGY AND CAN CAUSE VERY SERIOUS INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE IF THE TOOL IS USED INCORRECTLY.
Remove the top nut of the strut.
Remove the spring noting how the strut mount and other parts are oriented.
Remove the spring compressor.
Compress the new spring and install the new spring with the strut mount and other parts in the same orientation as it was removed.
Reinstall the top nut.
The rest is opposite of removal.
