No. The malibu engine is mounted sideways and the trailblazer engine is mounted longways. Each engine uses a different trany and are NOT interchangeable.

Your first issue could be a few different things and as in most problems like that someone would need to see the car to tell you for certain. Your second issue is most likely as you said a brake issue. It could be that your brakes are metal to metal. That is telling you it is not safe to drive. The more you do the more it will cost to fix.

It sounds like you might need to replace your motor mounts, or get a tier allignement done. The allignment you cannot do yourself but the motor mounts you can this requires you to place a jack under you engine and undoing the motor mounts then replace them and take away jack.

If the check engine light is on, I would take the car to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for fault codes. Most parts stores will do the scan for free. It sounds like it could be a faulty idle air control valve, but getting the codes should end speculation and identify the faults that the computer has noted. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Is the fliud a lite clear brown/tan (brake fliud) or is it a dark black colour (gear oil)? It sounds like you have a brake fluid leak. Check your steel line on the rear axle and then remove the wheel and drum and check the wheel cylinder. Top up your Master cylinder and bleed the brakes. You might find the light scrubbing noise gone.

Check the adjustment on the brake switch. If the brake switch is not seated properly it will engage when hitting bumps and tell the tranny to come out of overdrive.
