Hi and welcome to FixYa!

You definitely have a faulty MAF (mass air flow) sensor. The MAF controls the idle of the car that when it's faulty an erratic idle may occur. You may even end up stalling during take off so have the MAF replaced. It is located on the throttle body.

Sounds like you have a cylinder misfire. Is check engine light on ?, Have you had the vehicle somewhere to get a code scan? My assumption is that you have an ignition problem that is causing the rough idle and jerk feeling while driving.
Take the vehicle to a shop and have them diagnose the driveability problem that you are having.

My 1998 sunfire was running rough after it rains. It has no power on take off but still runs but at idol runs rough and shakes so i put new plugs and wires and still did it after i drove 5 miles and parked...
Do you have distributor cap,could be bad or crack.do not buy cheap.

Sounds like the alternator is on its way out. It should have roughly the same voltage output all the time.

Replace your fuel filter and airfilter. If this doesn't work - you may need a new coil pack or cap and rotor if it has a distributor; if this is the case, change the spark plugs and plug wires.
