If u can not find the diagram, the pulleys that are smooth require the back of the belt while the pulleys with the groves require the ribbed side of the belt. hope this helps

I do not know if you have either the 3.8L or 3.8L Super Charger, or what Engine Options (AC/No AC, etc.) you have. The Link has several Diagrams to match your specific vehicle engine. For the 1996 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight:
If you reach through the passenger side front wheel well, you can remove the Torx bolt that attaches the motor mount to the engine. It runs through a spacer (about 2" long) which you can remove. This should allow you to install the serpentine belt.
There should be a diagram under the hood that shows you how to route the belt, If no diagram, All your major auto parts stores have web sites you can go to to get detailed instructions and diagrams to do it.
