Trans 2 nd and reverse only - 1994 Dodge Caravan

I would check the wiring harness to make sure that the wiring connection is tight and secure at the alternator and that no wiring is shorting out when the engine shifts a bit when put into gear. Loose motor mounts or trans. mounts can cause wiring problems. Be careful, you'll need to check some of this with the car in Drive to see if any wiring is being pinched between engine accessories, etc. PARKING BRAKE and Chock the wheels with someone also pressing on the brake pedal when putting the car into gear as you investigate:)

Second gear is considered a limp mode other possible causes is the solenoid pack hook up a scanner and check trans codes.

Not sure whether you're running an automatic or manual trans, but, If you're jerking or maybe pulsing when you touch your brake pedal it could be you have warped rotors. If it's an automatic then your trans could be slipping, if it's a manual trans then your clutch could be slipping or your throw-out bearing may not be letting the clutch plate disengage all the way.

the car comes with 2 transmission.
a/t and m't (auto or stick)
the a/t uses an expensive PRNDL switch (aka. neutral switch)
the m/t uses reverse switch.

both are located on the transmission.
the m/t has 2 wires)
the A./t about 6. (not 2)
with those 2 facts, you can find it, counting wires.

next time post trans type, so we dont have to guess.

The local trans shop has no experience with a VW Standard
Trans & they mostly do just automatics,so they don't want the job

I would find a shop that will repair yours

Hi : ) Sounds like the third and fourth gear clutch pack has burnt out or there is some valves in the bottom of the transmission not working properly time for a mister transmission to look at it. If the fluid is up on the stick when it is warmed up that good but if it has brown colour in it that not good it should be bright red and see throught.Here is a Diagnosis Chart

You may try putting the trans in 2 or 1, if this doesn't give you any movement check trans fluid levels hot on a level surface. If levels are correct your trans is probably bad.

check your reverse servo piston seal make sure its not damage.
