Question about 2004 GMC Envoy

1 Answer

2005 XUV Envoy 101,000 miles, speedometer going crazy, mechanic says its the instrument panel 350.00 for new panel. Hear ticking noises coming from engine. Alarm keeps going off "tailgate ajar" although it is closed. Mechanic says he needs to take door off and open panel. Is it worth getting this stuff fixed or should i be looking for a new suv? Also need to replace seal.

The insterment cluster might be covered by warranty GM had some problems with the clusters, you need to have your local GM deailer run you vin# to see if it is under warranty, the door ajar light is probabley just a door latch switch it should not be thet expenceve to repair, mabe $100-$150 that is a lot less then a new suv. i dont know wich seal so i cant comment on that but in this day and age 100,xxx in just geting broke in the truck still has allot of miles left in it.

How to fix my rear tailgate window

check the fuse/relay. if it is neither of these check the switch with a multimeter. If you can hear the motor trying to move the glass when you try the switch it may be the regulator needs attention. It may be the motor needs to be replaced.

check fuse and relay along with the switch first then the regulator and motor afterwards. Replacing the small electronics is obviously easier than having to open up the tailgate to check the mechanics of the winedow.

Tick in motor with a lot of blowback coming from oil cap has started making a whining noise. not the knock sensor. could it be the oil pump?

The ticking may be coming from the valves, and or, the rocker arms, and or, the lifters. I have a 1996 Chevy Cavalier that has valve train noise and has 230,000 miles on it and is still going. If you are taking the oil cap off when the engine is running, you will see oil spitting out of it, since the engine is lubing the top end. Most vehicles have a pressure gauge on the instrument panel, and or, an oil light, which would show pressure problems. Try to isolate where the ticking is coming from by using a mechanics stethoscope, or a screw driver to your ear. The handle part of the screw driver goes to your ear of course. Place the scope or screw driver blade close to where the tick is coming from and you will hear the ticking get louder the closer you get to it.

I have a 2004 GMC Envoy XUV with 127000 on it. The vehicle has been maintained and services better than any of my previous vehicles so this specific issue is just driving me crazy. About a week ago I...

These engines are known for ticking fan clutches. If the ticking doesnt significantly increase with the engine revving, it may be the fan clutch. The clicking usually happens momentarily and dissipates, and increases only to a certain engine speed. If its an internal mechanical issue, ticking will increase simultaneously with the engine speed increase.

I have a 2004 GMC Envoy XUV that I bought new and at 96,000 miles my speedometer started going crazy. Now at 140,000 miles it only works on occassion. Usually it reads 50-70mph parked in the garage. My...

if it auto transmission , the ratio changes and the speedo reading is affected by the VSS sensor ( around $100 from reports)
if the transmission is running well other than that it will not need a transmission just and transmission oil change
suggest that you find an accredit professional transmission shop and have a proper diagnosis done

Cluster panel acting sporatic

Is it ALL of the gauges? My wife's 2005 Envoy Denali had a problem with the gas gauge sending unit (in the tank) that made the gauge act erratic. Also, the check engine light would stay on alot. If it is all the gauges, then it may well be the dash unit. Hope that helps some.

2003 cts will not start - 101,000 miles

it sounds like your alternator let go, therefore your battery is not charging, you will need to investigate further but the rattling would be explained by the alternator mechanically breaking internally and failing to charge the battery resulting in your present situation
