I recommend taking apart the intake and cleaning it thouroughly, including the vacuum hoses from the valve cover to the intake hose. I had a very similar problem and it cured mine wonderfully. It took me about 3 hours to dissasemble and clean everything with carb cleaner and re-install it all. For clarity, I took off everything from the airbox to the intake of the engine, including the large aluminum air duct that covers the top of the engine and exposes the spark plugs. Which is a great time to change plugs and wires by the way.

no symotoms.? how many miles on car 50k or 250k miles>?
no other DTC, did you use scan tool? and one that read ALL VW DTC. if not FAIL. you will.
how can I fix.?
you want to fix the car or the TB?
most cars, its a new TB.
im not VW savvy, (can fix any car) but not their policies.
anyone can go to vw.com and to the parts page and see what is sold
anyone. just do it.
my guess, is you didnt read the FSM yet, on this failure
why not? it explains how to isolate the true cause.
4th generation and 5 sub types. from FUN to blue motion.....
2002 to 2009
P1568
got others?>
so what does it mean.
it means idle can not be controls for any of many reasons.
the tech makes sure the engine runs ok, is in closed loop hot.
if not we fix that first , because misfiring or bogging engines the idle can be impossible to control.
then check that the throttle butterfly plat is not sticking (clean it)
if the throttle motor sticks the motor is bad. end of live for TB.
my guess is you dont have a scan tool, am I right>?
fixing cars with out one, is a bad idea.
engines can go lean and stall or surge.
engines can go rich misfire and stall.
we make sure that is not happening first and
the law is, IDLE is the last thing to work right on all EFI engines.
hell carbs. (ever get a vacuum leak with a carb ,it stalls)
engine stalls with any added load, even DRIVE ,
you have engine issues, if it stalls, for any reason.
stalls are complex. (like juggling bowling pins.)
the ECU tries very hard to stop all stalls, and failed
that means the engine power is very very weak.
(misfiring or fuel starvation)
ever give it a full 60k mile tune up this decade? bingo?
(we have a list of 50 causes) forget that
we have 5 tests. that work. (and good fresh fuel)
ill list just 1
key on, is CEL lamp (engine check light) is on?
you start engine, does the lamp go out.? same lamp.
i'd bet not. bingo? that means scan it , with any scan tool.
then post the DTC errors.
in USA some auto stores let you barrow one, Axxx-zoned.
ok 2: check all fuses. really that is #1,....
1: all fuses, both boxes. checked good.
3: tuneup (a full 60k) the one never to miss.
3: CEL indications running.
This is not the fuel pump, this is an idle air control issue. Either the idle air control valve is gummed up or the throttle body interior is filthy or both, the fix is very cheap. Disconnect the air ducting between the air filter cleaner and the throttle body. Using WD40 spray and a cloth clean the throttle interior and throttle plate until like new. Pivot the throttle plate by applying pressure with your fingers and clean in as far as you can behind the throttle plate. Remove the idle air control (IAC) valve from the throttle body and clean the associated passageways and pintle valve. Make sure the electrical connectors to the IAC is clean and reassemble everything. You should notice an immediate improvement to engine performance from start up and no more engine stalls.
Try cleaning throttle body with throttle body cleaning fluid. You can pick this up at any auto supply depot. Just follow the instructions on the spray.
Clean your Throttle body and pay attention to the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve passageway to try to clean the IAC. A dirty or faulty IAC will cause your engine to stall at idle, the job of the IAC is to open the passage way through the throttle body to regulate the amount of air to enter the engine to keep it from stalling when the Envoy is at idle.
Start with the simple and clean the throttle body and inspect any loose or damaged wire leads to the throttle body. Replace or repair any signs of damage.
Idle is automatically set&monitored with a timing sensor on the camshaft, i found my engine(1.8 20v turbo) would idle low then go high and almost stall sometimes and all i did was remove the fat black pipe on the throttle and clean inside the throat with a cotton rag dabbed in wd40.Hold the throttle open manually and clean on and around the throttle plate as the oil burnt&recycled creates a hard carbon that stops the throttle working correctly. When did you last change the sparkplugs, air filter, oil and oil filter and remove damp from the spark plug area using wd40 on surfaces applied with a cotton rag. These contribute all to your problem. As you dont state milage etc it could be a worn engine or slipped cambelt(1-2 teeth can make a slight diffirence).
Those codes mean there's an issue with your MAF, Throttle Body Sensor, Fuel System, Engine Misfires
Start with the MAF first as that can cause the other issues to appear (ex. fuel issue because your MAF says it needs more fuel so your engine is getting flooded and stalling.
Then look at the Throttle body and have the replaced if the issue still occurs... Then look at the fuel injectors and fuel delivery system (lines, gas tank, gas pump, etc)
Your engine misfires seem to be the result of any of the previous....
what tha generally means is your o2 sensor is throwing a fault code. this is mostliely due to the fact that your TPS (throttle postion sensor) is not functioning properly. this is why there is also a rough idle to the vehicle. have the TPS replaced and the problem will be solved.
