1992 Park Avenue Has no oil pressure what so ever for over a year now according to the gauge. The oil neddle is all the way past the high end of the gauge. Neddle will flicker in colder weather. I just changed the oil pressure sending unit and that didnt fix the gauge. Someone please tell me how to trouble shoot or something. Could it be my oil pump? Would it take that long for an oil pump to go out?

Since you know where the sender is on the engine, Get a manual test gauge and put in on and see what the real pressure is before you do anything else.

With your transmission warm and your car running. Check your fluid level. With that amount of Km, it most likely needs serviced and the bands tighten. There are some additives on the market that will give you a little longer life. You may want to try some of them.

SOURCE: Oil Pressure Gauge

It's not uncommon for a new part to be defective. While the car is running it should be in the middle. If you have the ignition on without the motor running it should be at zero. If it isn't, you definitely have a problem. There is a solder joint that in the guage cluster that will losen up over time causing incorrect readings on the gauges. Also check out the wiring going to the sensor for frays. This can ground out the sensor giving inaccurate readings.

Oilgage is maxed out

Your oil pressure gauge is reading at its highest possible reading? If it really is that high, you need to check the oil level in the crankcase. If it's not really that high, it could be just the gauge.

These sending units are known to fail, a replacement is about $25. I had a Bonneville that did the same thing. The only real way to test it is to remove the electronic sending unit and test it with a manual gauge. In my case I had 40 psi of oil pressure with the manual gauge but the dash would read 5-10psi.

Not the oil level sensor , Could also be the gauge is bad . You could try buying a used cluster at automotive salvage yard for $20 - 30 buck . Had a problem with chevy cavalier with the temp gauge showing overheating , just started the car so i know it wasn't overheating . Changed instrument cluster , the gauge work normally . You could also check the oil pressure with a pressure tester . Screws into when sensor screws into . Videos on youtube . How To Check Oil Pressure EricTheCarGuy

Engine 3800 for 98 Park ave. shows oil pressure too high on the gauge. what could cause this

Sounds like your oil pressure sending unit is faulty! When you turn the key on, is the gauge reading low, then you start it and it pegs out? if so, the sending unit has failed.

Oil pressure drops when i stop

If you have a high milage motor you could benifit from a higher viscosity oil.
Low oil pressure is usuall a sign of worn engine bearings, worn pump or a clogged oil screen on the pump pick up.

Check oil level light comes on at stat up for about 1 minute..

If your oil level is good, you may have an oil pressure issue. Get it checked with a gauge at a good garage to see what it its.
