Is the security light flashing? And make model and year is needed. To many security systems with cadillac. If you have a chip in your key, then you need a new ignition switch. If you don't, then I do need year make and model.

  • Anonymous Feb 27, 2011

A 95 I am sure has a chip in the key for a resistance read to the computer. If so then there really isn't any procedure for a reset. What happens is that when you put the key in the ignition that chip will reduce a voltage signal to match the voltage that the computer wants to see. If it doesn't then the car won't start. Every time that you turn that key you twist the two wires that come and go to the computer. Eventually, it breaks one of the wires and you lose signal. Not a very elaborate system but it does the job. You'll have to replace the lock with the wires. Do me a favor and email me at [email protected] . There is no resetting that old of a system. Bob

2007 Chevy Trailblazer starts for a week or 2 with no problem then all of a sudden it is like a dead battery. Jump it and it starts right up every time for a couple more weeks. What could it be??

Sounds to me as though your battery is dying or your alternator is not putting out enough voltage. If you can start your vehicle with a jump, it means that you are getting enough amperage from another battery. Take your vehicle to any car battery shop and have them check your cold cranking amps (CCA). They usually do this for free. If the CCA is low, put your battery on a charger to build up the available current (amps). Some shops will test the output of your alternator for free as well. I am leaning towards the alternator not putting out enough voltage to your battery. Do you drive this vehicle quite a bit or only occasionally? If only occasionally then lean towards the battery not having enough CCA. If you drive it often, lean towards the alternator.

Why wont car start with jump?

This may be related to the antitheft system The system is known for turning off the starter and/or injectors when it fails. Is there a light on the dash that says SECURITY or a picture of a car with a lock through it? This is a common problem worth looking into. http://www.diy-gm-security.com/

Car won't start without a jump but battery okay

wont crank or wont start.??
no car starts , if it cant crank. (unless push starter (M/T magic)
that is not a trans sensor its the PRN switch.
ill answer for, wont CRANK !
it wont crank even with a good battery (charged) or jump started.
1: bad start
2: bad wires to same.
so hot wire the starter small wire, the key start line is tiny.
cranks. , starter good, no crank starter bad or cables bad.
if it cranks hot wired, then the key line is dead.
easy, huh?

Car has been sitting 5 months without being started

the battery may be shorted out. do you have a meter to check a batteries condition? if not take the battery into the parts store and they can tell you if it has a dead short in it which means the plates inside the battery have sulphated together and wont allow current to pass through them. lead acid batteries are real bad about this if they go completly dead even if they are newer batteries.

I have a 1998 hyundai elantra i had to push it in

hi from uk have read your symptoms and from what you have described your starting /failure to turn engine ? 1st have you checked the leads to the starter motor are secure ? especially the single thin wire that fits to the starter solenoid on a spade connector ensure it is fully clipped on ? if ok ? may i suggest you try this ?= connect a single jump lead to the earth connector post on battery then the other end of jump lead to a suitable earth connection on the engine then try starter ifthis works your problem is a faulty/corroded or loose earth connection from the battery to the chassis/andon to engine usually connected to a bolt on point where trans connects to engine ? for info i have come across this problem a few times on accents and found that for some reason the thin wire connected to starter solenoid had come loose due to not clipped fully on also the earth lead from batteries have not had clean/securety loose bolt hope this helps and wish you luck

Car want start factor security light flashing and car want start battery went dead and wont start since tried to jump start and everything won work

The factory security light will remain on - this is a standard feature indicating the car is dead.
First, unplug the hazard fuze in the engine bay (this will reset the ecu and remove the flashing)

Next, replace the battery with a new one (or one with proper charge) - keep in mind a small battery will not do anything for these cars, the engines require a lot to push them over (it isnt a honda)
*Make sure to clean the positive and negative battery cables from acid

Then just start it up :)
