SOURCE: how do i remove shifter handle?
most shifters have a set screw somewhere on the base of the handle that u can unscrew and just unscrew the knob. if not then u may be able to just unscrew the knob. if the boot goes all the way up to the knob and is removable, there should be a lip on the bottom edge of the knob that the boot just fits into and can be pulled off of

First check the clutch master cylinder to see if it's low on fluid, if it is, use dot 3 brake fluid to fill it, (trust me it's brake fluid, I"ve been working on cars for 51 years.) It's mounted on the firewall right at the clutch.
Check for leaks from the master cylinder to the slave valve ( which you have to get under the car to do so). If the master cylinder was empty, you'll need to bleed the system after filling it. On the valve there is a bleeder screw, loosen it, catch the fluid in a jar till there is no more air bubbles, tighten screw up.
If you still have the same problem, then there is either a slave valve problem,or clutch and/or pressure plate problem. It's cheaper to change the slave valve first, then take it from there providing the valve is external and not internal.
SOURCE: how to replace the shifter cable on 1992 dodge
?? 5 Speed Manual doesn't have a cable for shifting. They were still using a direct linkage system until 1995. Cables don't work on Manual Transmissions. I owned a 1990 Shadow. Loved it. Never had a cable on the shifter. The speedometer cable was a pain in the **** but not the transmission.
