Delay in Shifting

I am having a delay in when shifting from N to D. The car moves when i push the gas until the RPM reaches 2.5

Then, it moves suddenly and violently.

Could this be possibly the transmission or the computer that synchronizes the transmission with the engine.

thanks,

You have 2 solutions, either to get the TCU referbished/ repaired

or totally change the transmission system. I did the second one.

Its something called the transmission control unit, first it start with delaying in shifting, then when you shift to revers and push the gas you hear a bang sound and the car battles to revers, it costs around 1500$

Transmission problems

It could be a sign of bad transmission solenoid. If so, your vehicle has trouble shifting into drive or reverse. Normally, when you start your car, you're able to shift into drive or reverse right away. With a bad transmission solenoid, the vehicle could have a delay of a few seconds, or even take several minutes to warm up and operate properly. During this delay, the vehicle will act similar to how it behaves in neutral. It won't stay in park, and when you press the gas pedal, the vehicle will make an engine revving noise but not move.

Check your ignition coils. One of mine was bad and when I replaced it, the shifting issue stopped.

Definitely something wrong within the transmission. Hondas have never been the smoothest shifting transmissions, especially with some miles on them. What you are experiencing is beyond that though. Get a second or third opinion from different dealers.

I would leave it at the dealer until it meets your satisfaction. Also, don't take delivery of it ,until you drive it with the tech that worked on it,so he understands the issues.

Hi,
The 1st>>2nd shift on the Subaru 4EAT automatic transmission can be more abrupt, but 3500 is too high.
Is there any delay when shifting from Park to Drive?
Does the Power light flash on startup? If it does, you can pull the codes by following these instructions.

This trans has 'bands' that can be adjusted. I'm not 100% sure they affect the 1st>2nd gear shift, but maybe they need adjusted.

Take a look @ ultimatesubaru.org/forum and http://bbs.legacycentral.org. 2 sites dedicated to Subarus.

Good luck,
