My issue is with my air flow somewhere controlling where the air should blow to come out cold instead of hot

posted by joey-dee71 on Jul 28, 2008 Report abuse

a/c blowing hot air, as soon as the car opens the thermostat replaced compressor and relay for clutch, recharged the system and new dryer still blowing hot air

Comment by joey-dee71, posted on Jul 28, 2008 my thoughts are there is a vacum ball thats failing or leaking, or a heater control valve or even a selinoid, or door flap not opening or closing do these make any sense? Comment by joey-dee71, posted on Jul 28, 2008 I also pulled the climate controller out and opened it, and I found no burn spots is there a way to bypass this unit to verify it's either working or not?
Comment by joey-dee71, posted on Jul 28, 2008 keep in mind when i first start the vehicle its just outside temperture until the car heats to the point when the thermostat opens up , then its like the heat is on blowing thru the dash vents where the a/c should be blowing. somewhere it seems the air is blowing thru the heater core instead od the evaporator, does that make sense to you.
Comment by joey-dee71, posted on Jul 28, 2008 the unit is holding its freon charge no leaks and checked three timee times in the past week,m right now its holding 2.7 pds still but its blowing air thru the wrong pasage way I'm pretty sure. can you call me Comment by joey-dee71, posted on Jul 28, 2008 I rememner years ago I had a cadilac eldarado and it had a heater ball underneath the dash, where vacum lines hook, and the ball tell the air were to go, and change the route of the air to either bring cold thru the a/c or heat thru the heating core is that something that can be an issue? or a heater control valve? have your checked on your freon status?

Comment by voodoomox, posted on Jul 28, 2008 you have to get the router of your freon checked if it has leak or it is worn out.

there saying its either a wiring or a vacum problem no help there. who says money can solve all things?

instead oif the air flowing to the evaporator , It seems to be flowing to the heating core.

Heater not working blowing cold air

Depends on the vehicle. All auto heaters have an inlet and a discharge hose. Most run from the pressure side of the cooling system through a heater core back into the engine. Somewhere in the the system there are several controls controlling the flow of water. Somewhere there is a problem with the flow of hot water. Could be a hose that has become plugged, a control valve that is no longer working or a cooling system that is not getting hot or is so low on coolant that it cannot flow through the heater hoses.

Why does My thermostat Not switch between ac,heat, defrost . there's cold air coming out of vents but not cold enough to be ac. Initially when this started the ac was blowing hot air

If the air flow cannot be controlled from vent/defrost/floor you may have a blend door issue. This is an electric motor that operates a door in the heating system to control airflow. There are usually 3 motors controlling airflow direction, heat and recirculation. The Ac not blowing cold may also be another problem. If the AC is operational, the compressor will be engaged and the Ac low pressure line under the hood will bw cold. If this is all ok then a blend door issue should be suspected

Driver side air on the duel climate control is blowing hot and the rest of the vents are cold

Joey i had a similar problem in my 2000...The problem lies in the A/C Actuator. The Actuator is what opens and closes the vents, when the vents are open it allows hot air to flow through and when thier closed it prevents hot air coming in while air conditioner is running. depending on the year some vehicles require an upper and lower actuator. they are fairly simple to replace, and dont take much time. most actuators are located under the control switch box (radio, a/c dials) parts run about 60.00 each.

My 1992 corvette does not blow hot air. I can control air flow.

Is the inlet and outlet heater hoses hot and if so you have a seperate acuator for your hot/cold door.Check for vacuum there if you have vacuum to the acuator then it must be a faulty acuator or jambed door.

1998 Volvo S70 2.0L Air conditioner not working correctly

This may be one or two different problems. One could be the climate control unit itself. Surprisingly the problem with the air not changing the source will likely be remedied by a reprogramming by a Volvo dealer. Defrost is the delfault outlet if there is a problem with that system. As for the dial not having detents and the cold instead of hot air in the pass side, that could be programming, a disconnect with the heater door for the passenger side or it could be the control unit. 98 is a difficult year to diagnose and the dealer is likely the only one who can properly diagnose this car. The download at the dealer is an inexpensive fix. If there is a mechanical problem within the air system that could prove more costly. I'm not sure how much the control unit for the climate control system, but there are usually quite a few on ebay. Good luck and I would suggest visiting the dealer first for this one as it is the least expensive fix and could very well be the only problem.
