I just bought a land rover LR3, and as I'm coming to a rolling stop the car really down shifts hard, as if someone is hitting me from behind. Also while I'm coming to a rolling stop, I push on the gas to go, it seems delayed in acceleration and it shifts even harder. What is it? The transmission? The computer system? It almost feels unsafe to drive. The check engine is not on, but there is also a faulty tire pressure monitoring system. Please help me out.

A couple of possibilities - a MAF sensor, the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) and possibly a trans filter & fluid change. The TPS would explain the delay in accell/shifting issues. You might want to check Landrovers only forum and contact Disco Mike (resident expert who will even call you at home to diagnose. He's a retired Rover Service mgr.)

I have a 2005 Land Rover LR3 V8 and the only problem I'm having is that sometimes when I pull into park the car shut shuts off, the power is still on but the engine shuts off. I don't have a

I had a similar problem in that when the driver stopped at a set of ligjhts the engine died. ran alright every where else just when the car was stopped. The problem turned out to be a vacuum leak in the brake booster leaning out the idle when the foot was on the brakes. resulting in the engine stopping. Try parking using the hand brake and not the foot brake. It could be as simple as that.

Do you have to replace the whole tail light assembly to replace a blown stop light in a 2005 Land Rover LR3? It saeems like you have to remove the whole assembly to get at the stop light?

No. reach in from inside, remove panel, tiset and pull out bulb and socket. The other kind have screws that remove from inside than entire lens pulls out to remove bulb and socket.

Land Rover LR3 versus Jeep Grand Cherokee -- which is overall a better car??

I used to a own jeep grand cherokee but sold it for an LR3. From experience the jeep is somewhat economical over the lr3 in term mpg. Seating in the jeep is a joke, not enough leg room or head room or comfort from daily driving for 3 years. Most of the jeep dashboard is plastic which is essentially price reducing overall to the cost of the car. In terms of the LR3, you have lots of driver and passenger comfort, more suspension features, more capability, however, buttons for certain things are hard to find and need time to remember. Next, LR3's tires need to be replaced once every year, at least since i off-road 4times a month, not much but yea.

Overall the jeep is cheaper and more economical to drive with less comfort. The LR3 is the exact opposite, its more comfortable, more capable on/off road, more better looking, however, it consumes lots and lots of fuel, maintenance can be lot at 30 or 60k. let me put it this way, a jeep grand cherokee is like a bicycle and an LR3 is like a sports bike.
