This doesn't sound right at all. You should have it done every 30k miles but 16 is a little overboard really. Even then it depends on your driving habits and the environment you live in but 30k is on the safe side of that. Now if they just flushed it out then i would suggest maybe replacing the filter (hopefully they did that with the flush!). If there are any problems with the transmission i can almost stake that it doesn't have to do with the fluid but something else. There is always a chance that the shop that did it didn't do it right so i can't say exactly if it would really NEED it or not. You can check the fluids and make sure that it still looks good. If it doesn't then there is something else wrong causing this (maybe a seal) or the shop didn't properly flush it.

Have a good one!

I have a 1989 Buick Electra with 203,000 miles, and the transmission has never been flushed. If you feel you need to change the fluid and filter at regular intervals, take it to the local fast lube place and save some big bucks. The dealerships charge 2 to 3 times the fair rate for this service. Plus, at a fast lube place, you can wait for your car instead of leaving it for who knows how long.

No it doesn't. If this is the case, they didn't do something the first time.

If you're not having troubles with it, I'd pass on another service. Trans fluid & filter should be done about every 50k or 30k if you do some towing. Having it done every 15k or so sounds like they're selling you something you don't need.

I have a 2007 Sebring with 61k miles. I was told by dealer that it has two codes P1790 & P0733. It shifts hard when going to higher gear. Please help.

We use the site as you do ,we have no info
Use Google to look up the codes
2007 Sebring OBD Codes P1790 & PO733
With the transmission code park it & don't use it
Hopefully you haven't used it at all, even ten miles
or you will ruin the trans.
Why would you go to a dealer, be given codes & they
let you leave or you decide to leave the dealership?
You could take it out of there to a local shop
for further diagnoses of the codes, but to drive
it,that is asking for trouble

Transmission pulse generator a-b should cost me 300 dollars to replace including both parts and labor? sounds steep.

You should be using the internet, as well as the dealers
parts dept to check prices only

You should also be at the repair shop & in the service bays
to see for yourself & ask questions in person, as to how the
testing was done & see if anything was even written down, in
case you come back for the work to be done

You should have go on road test with a mechanic before
you ever leave any vehicle, so they know why your there

Go to Rock Auto.com for the abs sensor price
The sensor is 60 to 70.00 so $250 is not right

2002 isuzu axiom, transmission is dragging when changing gears

if you have 100k plus miles, have the transmission filter change and flush by the dealer with proper tools and equipment, don't go to regular home town garage, pay little extra to have the work done right especially when it come to transmission work. its also good idea to have the tranny flush every 75k if you want any automatic transmission to last. If the tranny need replacing then take it to transmission shop and not the dealer. Try the filter and flush first..good luck!!

On the transmission fill tube the cap says dealer service only, and there isn't a dip stick. Must I take to the dodge dealer to either flush and change scree> Or must I take it to dealer to change...

When that happens it definetly means you will have to take a trip to the deolorship. If you take it local shops then most likely will not want to mess with it for the reason that they will have no indication of how much fluid goes inside the transmission. That right there is the biggest problem, it definetly is a hassel and seems like a trap that dealorships do to force customers to get there vehicles serviced with them.

Hope This Helps!

I have a 2002 Passat with a v6 engine with 65 000 mi . When should I replace the timing belt ? I understand the manual suggests 100 000 mi but I have heard many lower numbers . Thanks . [email protected]

I have an 02 Passat 2.8 4 Motion. I just had mine done at 95k and my mechanic said the belt was in surprisingly good condition. Although, its better safe than sorry. VW/Audi has had a history of premature belt breaks. If it does break say good bye to your engine. Both the 1.8T & 2.8 are interference engines. The cylinder will crush the valves.
Use a private shop...I paid $560 for both timing belt and water pump. Dealer quoted me $1300!

What maintenance service is needed at 45,000 miles? When should I have a transmission flush? When should I have a coolant flush?

Transmission flush should be done every 30,000 mi. according to my local garage that does it.

Also, the coolant can be flushed every year or two even though the guarantee lasts for up to 5 years against corrosion for most brands of antifreeze.

I have the works (oil change, tires rotated, etc) as recommended by dealer. Also, air filters, cabin filters etc. I am due for an oil change and the last time I was at the dealership they stated I...

Actually, I had a transmission rebuilt by a certified transmission shop and they recommended that I go to a shop to have it flushed and filled every 30,000 mi. and that it was better than draining and filling with a filter change.

2000 Subaru Outback manual transmission rebuild

I would want to see that for myself, or get a second opinion. That really sounds suspicious since they claimed there was rust in a box that was mostly filled with oil. And I can't see any logic in paying a lot of money to fix a transmission that is working. Why don't you take it to another shop and ask them to change the transmission oil, and to save the old oil for you to look at. It would be even better to change the oil yourself. Don't tell the dealer what you are doing. The best thing would be to just pick up your car, as is. If it is a scam, they could put some stuff in the transmission if you give them time to do it. In fact, they may have already done that. I can't say it's a scam, but it sounds like it could be if you haven't done anything that would have broken off teeth in the transmission. And if teeth are broken off you should be able to hear it while accelerating at low speed in each gear.
