My car won't accelerate properly no matter how hard you push on the gas. I got it up to 45 but thats as fast as I could get it to go. What could be wrong?

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

If that's the case then you definitely have a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor). If the TPS is faulty the result is a late response or unresponsive throttle. One good reason why it won't go. The TPS is connected on the throttle body. Have the TPS replaced and you'll be good.

IF you have a carby then take it apart and clean it out as all the throats are not working properly including the accelerator pump.

The internal pump is won out. replace it.
Q: Where and what is the internal pump?
A: It's a tiny pump inside the carburetor. It looks like the toilet plunger.

Air conditioner stops when i accelerate rapidly

The air cond compressor is supposed to stop, but only if the gas pedal is pushed to the floor.
If it is cutting off and the pedal is not all the way down, you could have a problem with the throttle position sensor.
Cutting off during hard acceleration gives you a few more horsepower.

2002 durango starts hard when also if going and you push accelerator to floor car jerks and misses but doesnt go any faster any suggestions if you press on gas lightly it will go as fast as you want it to

Have you checked/changed the fuel filter? sounds like its starving for gas.

suspect cruse control setting.
some cruse control settings can be made so that no matter how hard you press the pedal it will only go to the set speed. check manual for any secondary cruise control setting that might have been set to 45.

I believe you may be referring to 'pinging', Try a tank of premium gas and see if it stops. Check your timing, and when was it last tuned? Let me know what u find. countrycurt0
