Reverse is not sycronized, this means the gears have to stop to mess and not grind, two thing cause this, being to quick to slam into reverse after clutch is depressed, a problem with the clutch.

My guess is you want to adjust the transmission kick down cable. because why? It doesn't shift to lower gear when you push the throttle pedal down hard?

I have a 91 honda accord with an automatic trans. & when i shift into reverse it refuses to engage & makes a high pitch gear slipping grinding sound ! NOT GOOD ! ,I just replaced the transmission con

Definitely not good. The transmission is slipping internally due to worn gears and clutch packs. It will have to come out for rebuilding, IMO. Have a transmission shop check it out.
Good luck.

I have a 1992 f350 4x4 with a 5 speed manual transmission which jumps out of reverse

I suspect that your syncromesh has gone, one indication is the gears grinding when you try to shift into reverse. One solution is to tie a bungee cord some where and hold the shift lever in. This is cumbersome, so sooner or later you are going to have to re build the reverse gear in your transmission

Jeep Wrangler 1998 straight drive has difficult times going into reverse gear. I don't drive it every day, usually towing it behind my RV. It seems better when I drive it more, but is still difficult to...

if this is a 5 speed manual transmission...all you need to do before putting your jeep into reverese is puting it into first gear and then shifting it to reverse to avoid any grinding or problems shifting into reverse...this isn't a problem just a poor jeep design by not installing an extra gear to eliminate this grinding or shifting problem
