1996 Honda Accord. Revs like crazy when I idle even for a second. Starts first crank, never stalls. Very quiet when moving. If the car has a cooling fan, then the fan comes on after I back up and then stop.
Thanks !

Hi check the coolant level it may have dropped slighly causing the idle cotrol valve to play up
you may have to bleed the cooling system once you have done this there is a bleed nipple near the distributer undo this while the engine is running and the heater is switched to hot but the blower fan
is off bleed out some coolant until the air stops bubbling out if this doesnt work you may need a new idle control valve situated behind the inlet manifold near the firewall

I would replace the fuel filter, double check your work and make sure that all plug wires are securely connected and going to the right place (we all make mistakes sometimes) and check or replace the coil.
EARLY AC SYSTEMS HAD AN ADVERSE AFFECT ON THE REVS OF A VEHICLE, YOU CAN RECTIFY THIS IN TWO WAYS, EITHER DON'T USE YOUR AC SYSTEM OR INCREASE THE REV IDLE LIMIT BY 150-250RPM
bad ignition, air flow sensor that keeps leaning out the mix and it stalls, bad iac idle control motor, start with a good tune up.cap rotor, wires plugs air filter and clean the throttle body.some honda cars have bad egr valves and the intake manifold has to come apart because it is plugged up inside with carbon.
it sounds like a low idle either caused by poor adjustment or a dirty throttle body. clean the carbon out of the throttle body. if that does not work bring the revs up with the idle screw
hello first check your idle with the car running foot on brake see were your rpm reading is if your below 500rpm check your label underhood for your curb idle setting second see if theres a adjustment screw you can increase were your gas cable lever rest against your set screw underhood if you feel confident enough remove your iac motor idle air control valve if the bore were the end of the pintle extracts out to close has varnish builup our carbon it will stick creating vacuum leak type senario causing stalling rough idle sometimes even no start conditions good luck
