you have to take out all the bolt on the trans pan ( start at one corner with a oil drain container under that corner because the more bolts you take out the fluid will come out faster (about 1-2 gallons total) ounce you have the pan off the just wiggle as you pull down on the old filter and push the new in (all the way in) replace your pan gasket and put bolts back it. refill the trans through the trans dip stick
My 1997 Caravan manual states that the trans fluid capacity is 8.5 quarts. However, in the transmission oil change section, it says to drop the pan, drain the oil, replace the filter and add 4 quarts of new fluid. This tells me that the torque converter is not draining so you are in fact, only changing "half" of the transmission fluid.
there is no dipstick. the fluid must be checked from under the vehicle. fluid must be at 209* f.
or trans will be overfilled. there is a plug on the right end of the trans( 7/16" )& must be removed with engine running, if at proper temp & fluid comes out then trans is full.
