I have a 2005.5 Audi A4 that is having head light issues. The headlight indicator light has a red X through a yellow bulb indicating a bulb may be out. If I turn the lights off and then on again multiple times (and at different times), the right may be out, then the left may be out, then both may be out. Any ideas?

One non-electronic thing both lights have in common is the communal earth connection. It's nice if that is the cause (no real cost).
You might be able to test it - use a patch lead from the battery's earth terminal (-) to a good earth point on one of the light clusters. If it then works you know that the cluster is NOT otherwise getting a good earth.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Audi A4 2003 Change RH frontIndicator bulb

I've just replaced mine so here goes. Undo the top two bolts first. Then remove the two screws above the radiator holding the air intake ducting in place and gently pull out the air intake pipe and move to the back of the engine, exposing the rear of the lightbulb housing. To the rear of the lightbulb housing is a bolt. You should only need to loosen the bolt and this will allow the lightbulb unit to be pulled forward clear of the car. On the back of the housing you will find a cover, remove the clip retaining the cover and fold it away, exposing the rear of the light bulb.

SOURCE: 2000 Audi a4 headlight bulb replacement

At least on the driver side, there really is no reason to remove the entire headlight assembly. I was able to swap out the bulb fairly easily but simply removing the dust cap, popping the connector off the bulb, and then undo the clip holding the bulb in place. The just reverse order to install the new bulb. Took about 3 minutes.

How do I replace a Parking Light on a 2005 Audi A4?

Hi. Here's how to remove the bulb. Remove the two screws and air intake duct. There is a round door on the side of the headlight assembly. Push down the tab at the top to open and remove it. Turn and remove the DRL bulb. I had to use pliers. Then wiggle and pull the parking light bulb straight back

Audi A4 "left dipped headlight" problem

I have the same issue on my 2002 A4. According to my Audi dealer mechanic, there is a sensor on the front suspension that controls the angle of the headlight. Replacing this may resolve the issue.

Change the Front indicator on an Audi A4 2001

Take out the two Torx bolts on top of the headlight assembly. Then there is a third hidden bolt. Look through the holes in the top front of the fender, above and behind the headlight's turn signal portion (you'll probably need to shine a light in there) and you'll see the third bolt. Remove that and the headlight pulls straight forward and out. Then you can change the bulb.

Audi A4 "left dipped headlight" problem

AUDI A4- 2005. There is a technical service bulletin for this exact problem. take it to the dealer when this issue has happened while driving. During a daytime drive when cold see if you cant get the light to fail while circling your dealer. As soon as you pull into the service drive do not turn the car off do not flip the switch. I am an Audi Technician for a dealer in Birmingham alabama. Personally this is not my favorite repair to perform; What audi states is that if the bulb flickers the bulb should be replaced; if one side fails the bulb should be swapped left to right if the fault continues with the bulb the bulb is at fault; if the bulb is swapped and the bulb fails again on the same side it is the module. NOW: I currently am working on a 05 A4 that both bulbs both modules have been replaced and Audi has no clue what to advise on a repair. THIS IS AN ISSUE if it has happened to you ask if there is a TSB for this issue or try to find it for yourself.
