Hi.

Better replacing the PCM with the same module, or with a module that was used in 2005/2006 Escape (starting with 58LA-12A650). Few other modules starting in 58LA-12A650 and ending in different way , may be adapted, but this risks to get you in more troubles. This truck has already enough problems with its own PCM .

Here a ready made search showing a number of PCM used by the Escape. Select only modules used in 05/06 Escape.

After replacement the PCM must be re-programmed using a com tool. For this you will need to go to the dealer or to any Ford garage.

About the PCM, there are 8 years/80K miles warranty on the part. Ask to the dealer if you are still covered.

About the failure, the PCM must be diagnosed accurately. Misfire or no power to one of the spark plug is not necessarily PCM. The coil driver is responsible for this problem most of the time.

I uploaded here the relative service document.

Regards.

Ginko.

Ford 3.0 no power to coil

The PCM doesn't supply power to the coil's ,it supply's a ground . A fuse supply's B+ power to the coil's . Your vehicle has what is called coil on plug ignition system , a coil for each cylinder . Should have plug wires ,has a spark plug boot . IT is common for these coil on plug system's to fry the driver (transistor) inside the PCM ,if the spark plug gap becomes so worn that the spark can not jump said gap. It shorts inside the coil sending high voltage to the PCM driver . There are video's on youtube showing how to test a PCM driver circuit . Your coil has two wires , one should have B+ voltage an the other goes to the PCM . If your coil fried i look for a short to ground on the control side circuit . This video is for a ford 5.4 l V-8 coil on plug system ,same thing just 2 more coils .

Ford 3.0 no power to coil

The PCM does not power the coils, it only controls the ground circuit.

My 2005 ford escape v6 is only firing on cylinder 1 and 6

Your an 2005 Ford Escape 3.0L, you don`t have a distributor. Each cylinder has it`s own coil and is controlled by the PCM. You need to scan the PCM to determine which cylinder is loosing power ( misfire). P0301 cylinder #1, P0302 Cylinder #2 and so on. The coils are common problems with this vehicle, but pay close attention that the drivers in the PCM are not at fault. #1 cylinder is on passenger side near the firewall passenger compartment. firing order as follows, Bank #1 1-2-3 front of engine to rear. nearest the passenger compartment. Advise is free, but like reading a diagnostic manual does not mean the problem is solved. Correct diagnoses and system inspection and testing is what needs to be done so you don`t waste money!
