Misfiring passat 1.9 tdi when under load from 50 mph, foot to the floor. cured only by easing off throttle. Also occasion rattle when under load through 2nd and 3rd gear when accelerating under load. 2005 model.

you need to repair no 1 cyl. misfire it will misfire when engine load is present. if you want to test it .push brake pedal engine running and shift into forward gear and with the other foot raise rpm to 2000rpm you will feel the misfire

sounds like engine misfire to me. but it takes a mech, driving to tell.
if engine misfires?
try getting a 60k mile full tune up.
open glove box, see opr guide? see service list, see 60k column (it repeats)
bingo.?
filters (air/fuel), fluids, spark parts. (generic list, RTM)
or login to alldata.com and click maintenance then full chart
then see all things in the 60k column, those.

Sounds like possible ignition misfire. Go to an autozone or parts store that will scan the engine management system for free and repost what the codes are then we can help further

Clean the throttle body and maf or map sensor.

Remove the EGR Valve vacuum hoses,plug and road test under,
conditions your having the issues.

After that, work on the ignition for misfires

THROTTLE POSITION ACTUATOR IS SHORTING TO GROUND OR POWER.

whats the condition of the sparkplugs,airfilter,throttle body and does the maf(sensor on the airbox) work as they do go faulty.Depending on mileage of the engine, the catalytic converter breaks up inside blocking the exhaust gasses and can cause this fault,listen for rattling from the cat or tap it lightly when cold with your habd to hear but dont use anything else as you can damage a good unit.

YOU COULD PUT AIR SHOCKS ON CAR.

Do it run rough. You probable have a misfire. possible leaking injector. I have seen many ignition coil fail on those vehcles.
