I changed my spark plugs and afterwards the chech engine light came on. the jeep runs great. what can make that happen?

Was the spark plug changed also ?

check the spark plug wires. go somewhere dark, get a spray bottle with some water in it, then mist the spark plug wire and look for a spark to jump

Misfire 2 Cyl generated DTC P0302 Code - Cylinder #2 Misfire

A P0302 code means that the the car's computer has detected that one of the engine's cylinders is not firing properly. In this case it's cylinder #2.

Symptoms may include:
* the engine may be harder to start
* the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
* other symptoms may also be present

Causes: A code P0302 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* Faulty spark plug or wire
* Faulty coil (pack)
* Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
* Faulty fuel injector
* Burned exhaust valve
* Faulty catalytic converter(s)
* Running out of fuel
* Poor compression
* Defective computer

Possible Solutions: If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.

If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

These codes are for random misfires,but without the car actually running rough the best advice i can give you is to try a new set of spark plugs and spark plug wires,they may be failing randomly and then working again fast enough to set codes but are noticeable to you.

The plugs are located by engine head. You can use a ratchet wrench and sockets to remove them. Make sure to mark the plug wires so the order doesn't get mixed up.
The check engine light comes on when there is a bad sensor, or bad circuit.
Many part stores will run an engine diagnostic code scan for free which will pinpoint exact problem that is setting of the check engine light
The light can only be shut off by the diagnostic scanner!!

Sounds to me like you may have left the air temp sensor or something electronic disconnected - Distributor - MAF sensor - go back and check and make sure that there's not an electrical pigtail somewhere hanging off - a vacuum leak wouldn't keep it from starting unless it were major - and your AUDI is mechanical injection I think - so fuel pull isn't a problem - check those connectors - let me know??? install a fresh set of plugs. make sure to check them for proper gap, even if they are " pre-gapped "

Sounds like a fuel/air problem. Replace fuel filter, check/replace air filter and spark plugs, complete the tuneup and see what happens. If it still happens then suspect injectors. Run cleaner through a tank of gas. If still the same take it to a shop that can plug into your vehicle and verify injectors performance.

And also a little secret-They are guarenteed from the manufacture for 1000,000 miles
Your Jeep should have Champion plugs in it.
