Coolant is disapearing but can find no leaks. The car overheats and will advise to shut down if you drive it 4-5 miles from cold condition.

If you happen to have the Northstar 4.6 L engine, prepare to spend big bucks. These engines have a problem with head gaskets and do exactly what you describe when they go bad.
Best solution is a good used engine. Even the Cadillac dealerships don't like to repair these engines.

I had the same problem and I had to have a head gasket job thats the only way you can fix the problem. the job cost me 2800 dollars and thats not from the dealer which wanted 4 to 6 thousand. The problem
is that your caddy need a special kit to fix it correctly or it will happen again. It has special torque
specs that not all mechanics have the proper tools for. I was told that is very expensive and that it is
the only way to fix the problem. I had the problem fixed in 06 and have not had any problem with it
since. So good luck and I hope this helps.

Suzuki swift 2005 1,3 petrol overheated .coolant fluid was boiling but didn't seem to leak .started the car again drove a couple of miles and the same again.

check to see if the cooling fans at the rad are working. if so then change the thermostat and refill the system. if not then have the head gasket checked for cracking. make sure the coolant is circulating if its not it could be a plugged cooling system or even a water pump impeller problem.

Olds intrigue problems

Do you see any coolant drops on the ground, if so is it the driver side or passenger side. Also is it a V6 or 4 cylinder. Lastly, if there are no signs or evidence of a leak there may be air trapped in the cooling system causing the level to drop as the air purges slowly.

I have a 97 vw gti vr6 and I have had a unknown leak in the engine which has leaked out all the coolant from the resevoir tank so I've had it parked for a few days, not sure if its the water pump or...

Driving a car without coolant doesn't often blow a head gasket (but a blown head gasket can be the reason for losing coolant). But driving a car without coolant can quickly ruin an engine.
Your best option (if there is no possibility of freezing temperatures where you are) is to top up the cooling system with plain water and drive it to where you need to go. Keep an eye on the temperature gauge/light, and stop and add more water if necessary.
After repairs are made, refill the cooling system with proper coolant.

Have the cooling system flushed and replace thermostat. For oil leak try some oil stop leak from auto store, they work on small leaks( will take a couple of days to work).

Going thru coolant like crazy but theres no leak. we done so much so far. we put a water pump in and a therpasat in and sencer in and intake gaskets

Well first off, since you have replaced many parts, perhaps you have air in the system. Also check the oil to see if it looks like chocolate milk or is extremely high (indicating a blown head gasket).
While system is cold, add coolant to the radiator (if applicable) and the coolant tank. Then start the vehicle and turn the heater on high heat - full blast. Let run for 15 minutes or until the engine begins to overheat or the coolant tank become empty. Let the vehicle cool down (30 minutes) then repeat until it coolant level doesn't drop or engine doesn't overheat.
Now go for a test drive for about 10 - 15 miles make sure to take hills and highway/freeway. Let vehicle cool down and recheck coolant tank and radiator. If level has gone down then something is wrong. Perhaps the thermostat is in backwards.

My '97 Tahoe overheated and now it won't start

Probably just low on coolant causing air pockets. Start it up with the radiator cap of and add coolant, then check to see if the water pump, intake gaskets, or coolant bypass connector on passenger front corner of the intake manifold is leaking.
