I have a 92 firebird with a 3.1 that stalls when slowing (braking)down to a stop, going slow and turning, also it will stall when taking off from a stop. This is an intermittent problem, never know when it may stall, will start up fine and get somewhere, then it will either start and stall when giving it gas (just sitting in driveway)or stall when out and about. I have replaced the egr valve, fuel filter, fuel pump, vacume hoses, and problem is still there. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

check for a vacuum leak to the brake booster as it appears that the fuel/air mixture is going too lean to keep the engine running.

there is a sensor that will increase engine revs when turning at slow speed , i expect this is the issue, to check get the OBD codes read to confirm

check the fuel injector that may be plugged allowing fuel not to enter as fast as it should at low speeds

Have you had it to a shop that has a professional type scan tool that can view engine sensor data parameters ? Do you know what those are ? Idle air control counts , mass air flow sensor data , MAP sensor , TPS - throttle position sensor , crankshaft position sensors , Cam sensors , engine coolant temp , intake air temp etc......

try disconnecting the hose to the brake booster and plugging it, the take it for a drive, ( you won't have power brakes so do this in a empty area)

One suggestion:
Speed sensor failure.

Info:
Some of the classic symptoms, stalling at dead stops. failure to auto lock doors. poor fuel economy. Failure to go to overdrive.


Recommendation:
Go to your local parts store and run the failure codes.

Shop notes:
Your ECU thinks that the engine is running with out moving, During slow down the engine steps down the idle to match ground speed and as a result the engine will not stall. At present it goes directly to idle and stalls due to drag on motor.

i think your exhaust might have a leak which is heating up your oil when this happens the engine suffocates and wants to die.
