FUEL PUMP SETS DOWN INSIDE THE CENTER OF THE BIG FUEL TANK.FUEL TANK HAS TO DROPPED DOWN TO REMOVE FUEL PUMP.
I have an 85 and an 82 with dual tanks.Both of my cars has the fuel pump in the spare tire area of the trunk.Was 83 differant?I only need to remove the carpeting and cover for the spare to reveal the fuel pump and filter.The fuel tanks in my cars are mounted in the rear quarters.There is no "large tank"that can be dropped down.

WELL LATE 80S JAGUAR XJ6 YOU HAVE TO REMOVE RIGHT SIDE WHEEL ASSEMBLY.CUT STRAPS SECURING THE FUEL PUMP FEED HOSES TO AXLE CARRIER FIT A CLAMPS TO THE FUEL FEED HOSE REMOVE THE RETAINING CLIPS AND DISCONNECT THE FUEL FEED HOSE.PLUG THE HOSE..THEN LOOSEN UNION NUT AT FUEL PUMP REPOSITION HOSE PLUG THE HOSE.REMOVE THE FUEL PUMP TO AXLE CARRIER MOUNTING NUTS .THE REMOVE FUEL PUMP ELECTRICAL HARNESS FROM THE FUEL PUMP.AND REMOVE THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY.
The 1985 jaguar with dual fuel tanks is the Seies 111 model and the fuel pump is accessed by removing the spare wheel when you will see the fuel pump at the right side of the spare wheel recess. There is a General Motors fuel pump that will replace the Jaguar pump. It is advisable to fit an additional fuel filter on the inlet side of the pump.
