Hi,this dose look like the right one,I take it that you pulled it out from the top of the gearbox on the right hand side of the engine as you look in the engine bay,the way you check the fluid is underneath the car on the same side above the gearbox sump there is a bolt that you take out so when the right level is reached the fluid will run out,(the car has to be on the level and fluid at running temp)so the best way to do this job is on the ramps,to much or to less fluid will couse damage to your transmition, hope this was some help, all the best hope you get it sorted.
Hi,sometimes this can be becouse the filter and transmition fluid need changed, people tend to ignore this area but its just as importent as changing the engine oil and filter, also there is a additive you can use that helps to make things run better inside the transmition its cald,(xado)you can find this on ebay,I drive a mercedes and always use this product it dose work.
I hope this was some help, and just to say I dont sell or make any money from these people who sell xado I just know that it works, all the best.
Hi,food for thought, check the level of transmition fluid,if correct dose it smell burnt, maybe it needs a gearbox filter and fluid change ?.hope you get it sorted all the best.
the recommended fluid is GM synchrmesh transmission fluid part # 12345348 but you can use DextronII if you live in colder climents or 10W30 in warmer climents.
Check your tranny fluid levels- if they are low your transmition will slip between gears, however if you notice any kind of free reving while its shifting (like being reved up when in park or neutral) then the hydrostatic clutches are slipping and the transmition needs repair.
Another thing you should investigate is your transmition kick down bar (it shifts the trany into a lower gear when accelerating hard to help pick up speed.
no no no and no...do not use brake fluid in the steering, this will eat away the seals and blow the system no way should brake fluid be used, you use auto transmission fluid or correct stearing fluid normally dexron2 but no brake fluid...hope this helps
the fluid goes in through a plug in the top of the auto it is not recommended that you check it as it take a particular type of fluid that only VW uses and the transmission is not ment to be serviced. if the car is having trouble taking of the transmition might be about to fail our it might be low on fluid sagest to your boy friend that he checks for leaks and if he find one take it into VW to get repaird. unfortunatly these cars are expensive to fix and your average machanical minded person dose not have the corect service tools to do so
