Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Any erratic idle problem? If it does then it can be the MAF (mass air flow) sensor or IACV (idle air control valve). If one of these two is faulty the vehicle will have vacuum supply irregularities which may cause stalling. I strongly suggest that you have an engine scan on your nearest auto repair shop to know what needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Replaced the fuel pump in 1988 ford f250 and the engine still seems to not be getting fuel

follow fuel lines from gas tank to engine are any lines crushed. next replace fuel filter. check to be sure fuel filter is installed in right direction. arrow on fuel filter should point toward engine. double check that fuel lines are connected properly, some fuel pumps have three fuel lines one for pressure , one for return and one vent line.last possible bad fuel pump from factory

I have a 1988 Ford F250 with the 460 engine and duel tanks it is factory fuel injected.....the front tank ran out of gas so I switched it to the rear tank( the same as many times before) the truck died and...

The fuel pump relay and the oil pressure switch as well. The oil pressure switch runs power to the fuel pump when you first start it
When the oil pressure reaches operating range the relay takes over
They are both inexpensive so replace both of these parts to be safe and kill two birds with one stone. If one goes out the other will soon enough

My son ran my truck out of gas. Its a 1988 F250

first, is this a diesel? if it is there is a line or oring loose allowing it to **** air--diesels dont like leaks like that and there is a whole procedure for voiding the air from the lines on diesels. next could be the in tank pump and also does it have duel tanks? does the duel tank switch work? running out of fuel with in tank pumps can burn up the pump (the fuel itself provides lubrication and cooling for the pump, gas or diesel) and of course check the filter, running out and refilling could have disturbed trash in the tank

Fuel problem, wont start

the pump is part of the filter/separator not in the tank no fuel will come out if filter is removed make sure there is fuel in the upper filter if there is the pump is ok it might be an oil pressure concern

Ford 1988 f250 will not start up.

Pass side inside on the fire wall inside by the heater core just below it. There's a black box with white botton on top. Push the white button downword to reset the fuel pump.

For the fuel filter, you'll find it along the inside fram rail in the driver's side. Just follow the fuel lines.

Good luck oh and not sure if the 1988 F250 are the same as the 86, but if they are what i typed out should help. Happy Easter
