I went to Sears and got a $30 charger/maintence unit with the cig adaptor. I plugged it in and within minutes I had enough power to open the hood. I just left the charger connected through the cig lighter and by morning I was good to go. The other fix is to open the fuse panel and pull out the hood fuse holder. It is the large red color slide out fuse holder located near the bottom left of the fuse box. Attach a positive (red) charger wire to the fuse and a negative (black) wire to the door post. Upon doing this you should be able to have enough juice to open the hood.
If u need to open ur front trunk, under the front bumper is a cable with a loop end it is real hard to find and may take some while but its there in between the middle and the passenger side. once u find it just pull it out and pull hard and it will open ur trunk.
You need to jump the front compartment by opening the fuse box and pulling out the front hood compartment switch and connect the positive jumper cable to that and the negative jumper cable to the door latch on the frame. Then use the switch to open the front compartment. This is detailed in the owners manual.

The cheapest way to get around this and get enough voltage into the system to open the hood is to purchase a cigarette lighter extension (about 3 feet) and cut off the female plug on the end. Strip the 2 wires back a few inches and attach one to the positive and the other to the negative on a set of jumper cables. Attach the other end of the negative jumper to a battery. With the keyless entry in hand, touch the positive cable to the positive terminal on the battery and press the unlock button until you hear the car doors click. Once it clicks, you should be able to use the hood latch to gain access to the battery.

Hello Im Cliff CAH ..Well we have a 1997 Porsche Boxter and have the same problem. my year i thought would be easy to fix just pull the fuse pannel pull the red tab and everything would be fine, but no red tab.So guys the easiest way too do this is go buy a cig charger plug it in and this should give you enough power to open your rear bonnet and the front as well. Again this would be the easiest way too do this. If you store your car or just dont drive it buy a solar power charger and just let it do its thing your car will love you and you will love your car, see how that works..
