Sounds like you may have a fouled plug or bad plug wire. It's not firing on that particular cylinder to combust the gas and that may be where you are smelling the exhaust smell.

1998 dodge dakota 3.9 runs great for about 10 min. than starts to miss and backfire no check engine light

you may have a plugged fuel filter as you don`t say if you have changed it. also have your fuel pressure tested with a gage, it should run about 36 lbs pressure if its multi-point fuel injection or run at about 15/18 lbs pressure if its a throttle body.

Rough running 4runner

try looking at the engine while its running at night. look for electrical sparks around the coil, dist cap, wires, etc. check for broken or missing ground wires. plug wires could also be bad

I have a 1999 chevy silverado 1500 2 wheel drive 5.3. It was running rough i took it to advance auto parts they put it on the machine it said idel control senser, throttle control senser, mass air flow...

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Spray carb/throttle body cleaner at all fuel and air intake areas ie; intake manifold to heads, throttle body to intake, all vacuum hoses, etc. Work the throttle to keep it running or have someone inside doing it. You will know if the carb cleaner gets sucked in somewhere. That will be the location of your vacuum leak.

Smell fuel while running. Lack of power. Accelerator not responding right away. Stalls out. I put new wires and plugs on. Also put new coil packs on. Running a little better but still smell fuel and still...

you might have a plugged up catalytic converter, check and see how much pressure is coming out of the exhaust pipe, does it feel like the air is flowing out the exhast pipe smooth or just a little bit. you may have to take it to a muffler shop to have them check the pipe pressures before and arter the converter..

Fuel pump is running, changed fuel filter. Rus ok unless I push the gas pedal now hard

Check your Catyletic convetor it may be plugging you exhast. If there is a bad smell @ the tail pipe it's more likely, another sign is a rattling sound from the convertor area when the engine is still not @ running temp. If your exhast is plugged up you will have poor performance @ higher engine RPM's

Sounds like you missed connecting something back up. The Knock senser won't make it not run it'll just not let it run at peak power. The OHMs on the sensers just need to be close and your old senser may be just fine. The senser watches a reluctor wheel go by. Did you put it back on? did you put it right side up? It'll fit backwards but it won't line up with the senser.

Smell smoke

There is most likely an engine oil leak that is leaking on the exhast that runs accross the bottom of most toyota engines. Valve cover is common
