I suggest you try one of those instant download manuals. My brother ( a mechanic) buys it when he can't fix some technical issue He buys from www.reliable-store.com . A lot of mechanics actually do this. Website is very good
for this. Must try it !!

Its most likely your siren module.

It is located in the right fender well just behind the wheel liner.

Remove the R/F wheel, remove the torx 25 screws, pull the liner to the rear and you can see it right there above the liner.

To remove the siren module...it uses a sheer bolt, which unfortunately you'd need to either drill it out, or use a dremel to slice a slot to get a screw driver in to remove the sheer bolt.

SOURCE: Car won't start

Your immobilizer is enabled. Try locking/unlocking the doors with the remote five (5) times, this should remedy.

SOURCE: Car won't start

If there is a blinking car icon with an "X" over it. This icon means the Immobilizer has been activated and hence won't allow the car to start. It could be due to a bad SCU, Start Control Unit. The SCU is actually the ignition switch on these cars.
Most of the time it's triggered by the anti-theft system..You can try this trick i learned that the dealers won't tell you...try locking and unlocking of the doors five times with the remote to reset the immobilizer and see if this helps.
Good luck...i hope this helps...please take a minute to rate me a fixya.

Why volvo s60 2002 start and shut off spark after 2 seconds? Does alarm (siren) cause this?

Volvo security systems will cut off power to the starter motor if triggered. Sounds more like you have a bad crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor. They are what triggers the ECU to turn the coils on and off. Alarm is NOT your problem.

How do i reset messages on my v70 03 volvo

The only one you can reset is the "time for regular service" message.

To reset this, turn ignition off, hold the trip reset button down and turn key to position II. Keep holding the trip reset until you hear a ping noise and the orange triangle flashes. Immediately release the trip reset and turn the ignition off.
When you start the car next, the message will be gone.

Other messages like "SRS Service required" or "Alarm system service required" can only be rest with a OBD code reader.

Anti theft alarm goes off at different times & different places with no reason-2002 Sable Merc.

Had a new Lincoln Mark 7, battery was bad from beginning and would trigger alarm when it shorted at random. In your case, outside radio waves may trigger alarm if shielding was removed from alarm antenna.

I work for a garage and we have a 1998 mystique that wont start we were wondering if there was some sort of anti-theft systeme that we dont know about and also we would like to have the were abouts of the...

Starting System
The function of the starting system is to crank the engine at a speed fast enough to allow the engine to start. Heavy cables, connectors and switches are used in the system because of the large currents required.
The starting system consists of a gear reduced starter motor, battery, remote control switch (ignition switch) and relay.
Vehicles equipped with automatic transaxle have a transmission range sensor attached to the circuit which prevents operation of the starter motor unless NEUTRAL or PARK are selected.
Vehicles equipped with a manual transaxle have a start inhibit switch in the starter control circuit, which prevents operation of the starter motor unless the clutch pedal is in the applied position.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The anti - theft protection system provides protection from unauthorized entry into the passenger compartment.
The system is controlled by an anti - theft alarm control. When armed, unauthorized entry into the vehicle is detected by lamp switches.
Once triggered, the system flashes the headlamps, the parking lamps, the alarm indicator, and sounds the horn. In addition, the starter circuit is disabled to prevent starting the vehicle until the system is disarmed.
System Arming
The system will be armed by the remote entry transmitter when the following input sequence is followed:
  1. Turn the ignition switch off and remove the key.
  1. Close all doors (unlocked).
  1. Press the LOCK button on a transmitter to lock doors. Alarm warning lamp will turn on.
  1. Wait for the anti - theft warning lamp to turn off.
The system will also be armed when the following input sequence is followed:
  1. Turn the ignition switch off and remove the key.
  1. Open a door. Alarm warning lamp will flash.
  1. Lock doors with power door switches. Alarm warning lamp will now glow steadily.
  1. Close all doors.
  1. Wait for the anti - theft warning lamp to turn off.
Opening any door will activate the alarm after the alarm is armed.
Disarming an Untriggered System
The system can be disarmed by performing one of the following procedures.
  • Driver or RH front door is unlocked with a key.
  • Driver door is unlocked by pressing the UNLOCK button of a remote entry transmitter.
  • If remaining in the vehicle, turn the ignition switch to ON or ACC position.
System Triggering
The armed alarm system will be triggered if any door is opened without using a key or a remote entry transmitter to unlock the door first.
Disarming a Triggered System
Carry out either of the following steps will disarm the triggered alarm system.
  • Driver or RH front door is unlocked with a key.
  • Driver door is unlocked by pressing the UNLOCK button of a remote entry transmitter.
Two minutes and 45 seconds after the system has been triggered, the horns and exterior lamps will shut off automatically. The system will then reset to an armed state and will trigger again if another intrusion occurs.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)
The Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS), known as SecuriLock, is fully passive in operation and requires no special procedures by the driver to arm or disarm the system. It is invisible to normal scrutiny and is operated by a transponder within the key body. This communicates with the module through a transceiver mounted around the ignition switch lock barrel.
The PATS functionality is incorporated within the powertrain control module.
PATS keys contain an electronic device inside, and are physically larger than a non-PATS key.
The transponder code reading is carried out when the key is inserted into the ignition lock barrel, and turned from position 0' to position II' or III' to crank the engine. If the PCM receives the correct code signal, the engine will start. Should the code received not be recognized, the engine will not crank as the PATS is still armed and the engine immobilized.
Anti-Theft Indicator
Whenever the ignition is switched on the anti-theft indicator will remain on for three seconds while the system carries out an initial ignition key-read.
The anti-theft indicator will flash rapidly for three seconds to indicate the PATS has immobilized the vehicle.
For additional information on the PATS fault codes, refer to the Diagnosis and Testing section.

Car electrics

This is a highly sophisticated system (complicated and expensive!) that will require an experienced Volvo shop. There are 15-20 computers in this car that are all networked together and they will need to be checked. You need a special tool to read all the trouble codes in the system, then someone with the experience to understand the codes.

However, you can try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, that may get you going temporarily, to get it to a shop.

Service message for alarm system

The message is trying telling you that the system has a fault and most likely the control module has disabled the system. After the problem is fixed the message will clear. You can have the system tested by Volvo to see what part of the system has a fault, most likely they will charge about 1 hour labor time.
