I will tell you the cause but some don't want to hear the answer or will swear they are not doing it.
If the Intelligent Key fob is placed in a pocket, back pocket, purse or tight pants and (within range of the car) something presses against the unlock button for 3 seconds the windows will go down. Once the 3 second thresh hold is reached the windows start down. They will continue to go to fully open unless the button is released. In other words, the windows can be opened anywhere from a crack to fully open.
Try it. Take the Intelligent Key fob and walk within range of the car. Stop. Hold the unlock button down for 3 seconds and watch what happens. The windows start down.
If the car is re-locked using the Intelligent Key fob the windows remain down. You have to physically go and turn on the ignition and raise the windows.
Front window operation with the Intelligent Key can be found on page 3-22 middle column near the bottom of the 2007 Nissan Murano manuel.
so i tried this and it worked. however, seems this is not all there is...my husband closed my trunk and the windows were cracked last night. this morning, the trunk is open again and the windows are all the way down. the keys were in the closet on the shelf! Go figure.
Mine does the same thing every since I replaced the main car battery. It is NOT the key fob.... it happens when I unlock the car being extremely careful not to push it too long and even switched out FOBs to the rarely ever used one so as to make sure it is not sticking after pushing... it also does this the moment I unlock the car using the smart touch on the door... both front windows go all the way down... it also happens when I lock it! This also affected the operation of the moon roof!
Not the Remote. Took the batteries out. windows still roll down randomly.
It’s 2024, tried the three second rule and damned if those windows rolled all the way down. Thank you for that post!

If your windows do happen to go down after pushing the unluck button for three seconds, rather than starting up your car to roll the windows up, you can also put your key into the drivers door lock (which is the only lock available to put it into on the MO) and turn the key in the locking direction and that will raise your windows back up again.
My key fob is actually put up on the key hook every night, my windows are always locked and my windows are all the way down by the morning. Could it be the weak battery in my key fob? Because currently my battery is low.
Unlock on the key fob was the culprit on a '07 Lincoln MKZ
Or the inside of ur remote could have water in it causing it to have a shortage all u have to do is take the remote apart a( knife can seperate it) and dry all the pieces inside and put them all together once there dry and then everything we be as good as new. I know this because I just did it to my Infiniti :) good luck
I bought a key jacket from the jacketstore dot com and the problem is gone. I was apparently crowding the buttons while it was in my pocket, not much but enough.
Funny timing! I asked around at work today, and someone mentioned that their car (not an Altima) had that fob feature. Sounded like a possible cause, so I tested it out. Sure enough, it worked....so maybe the button gets held down in my pocket (or maybe my daughter gets ahold of it...) I'll really pay attention to where my key is at all times, so that if it happens again- I'll be able to pin point when it happens and why. Thanks for responding- I was going to post this same thing to let everyone know....funny timing!! Hopefully this solves the case of the mysterious opening windows!
SOURCE: Dodge Journey windows going down by themselves
Mine began like that and then none of the locks and windows worked. Now it is at the dealer (again!) waiting for parts. This is the 5th time a recall defect has been fixed..
SOURCE: Power Windows
just had the same problem. check the black wire in the rubber boot from the body to the door on the drivers side. i just soldered my back together and it works just fine.
SOURCE: My power windows randomly roll

My windows ar rolling themselves down as well. I know its not the key fob unlock button. I saw on another site that some moisture can get in the door and .5 sec ground can cause the "auto open" windows function to engage. however, its not convenient during the middle of a big rainstorm, as I had to find out.
I have 2002 maxima and went to dealer to do diagnostic check and change new battery and ever since after that visit ill come out of work, with my windows wide open. and in the morning leaving for work to find the same thing. also, i was drving with the doors locked as always, and then they unlocked by themselves while i was driving. i hate having to "babysit" my vehicle b/c i dont know when it happens and theft and damage is a big concern. dealer tells me to make an appt. and say "ooh that doesnt sound good" lmao
My power windows randomly roll down when I have the electronic key fob in my pocket. I can be sitting with in 50 feet of the car or 1000 feet away. I live in the city and am concerned about theft and my windows randomly rolling down in a rainstorm.
I have a 2003 Nissan Altima and the windows will roll down, hazards will flash and the doors will lock themselves with the keys out of the ignition. I have taken it to the car dealer and they can not figure out what the problem is. I have put 2 batteries in the car since June.
same problem here, walk away from the car and the windows decide to roll down.
2004 altima window down itself when key out ignition
Driver and passenger side windows will roll down when car is locked and we are away from it. The windows roll down to the same level on each side, but not to the same same level twice. It's random. Happened yesterday after a few months of no such activity.
when I turn off my 2004 nissan 350z and open the door the windows roll down and stay down. I have no way of getting out of my car and keeping the windows up.
My husband, father and I all have this exact same problem- we just thought it was our own mistakes until finally yesterday it happened when we just got out of the car (and it was off) the 2 front windows went down 4 inches or so the same on both sides. Now I know that each time I went into my garage to find both windows all the way down, it was NOT my mistake-I don't even roll them both down like that ever! The trunk is even popping open occasionally on its own as well.........we're taking the cars in next week. All 3 of us have Altimas. One is a hybrid.
Funny thing, my windows, sun roof, rear defrogger quit working and when I replaced the smart entry control unit, my windows began to roll down IMMEDIATELY after I turn the car off and open the door. Every time. I ended up having to take the door panel off and unplugging the connector to the window motor. Ive had this car since it was brand new in '03, and always kept my keys in my pocket and NEVER did I come out to my car and the windows were down. I replaced the Smart entry control unit and it went haywire.
