Trying to remove the door panel to get to the lock mechanism but dont know how to remove the window crank handle

Check out how the door panels are attached to the car. Most panels use screws and bolts but others have snap-in fittings. Gather all the tools you need for removing the door panels. If the panel is attached with screws and bolts, you need a screwdriver or ratchet and socket. Car door panels with snap-in fittings are easily removed with a flathead screwdriver.
Locate where the screws and bolts are before starting. These are usually found in the arm rest area, along the bottom or sometimes near the door lights.
Roll down the car door window. Begin removing all screws and bolts that hold the door panel onto the car. If your car has snap-in fittings, pry gently on the bottom corner of the door panel until the fittings pop out.
Remove the power window control panel if your car has power windows. The control panel should pry out easily, and then you unplug the wiring harness from the back and place it to the side.
Use an L pick and flashlight when locating a manual window crank. Look behind the window crank and slide the pick under the edge of the metal clip that holds the crank in place. Remove the clip and pull the crank off.
Remove the door handle by unscrewing the small screw located in the center. Gently pull the door handle out until you see the back of the handle and unclip the rod from the door handle. This should remove the handle unless the handle and door lock are attached, then you just unclip the rod from the lock and remove them both together.
Unscrew the cap off rear upper corner door panel locks. These don't have a rod attaching them to the handle and unscrew separately from the door handle.
Pop the door panel off after you've removed everything. Gently pry on the bottom edge of the door panel until it releases. Pull out and up to completely remove the door panel.

You checked fuses and relays for electrical cranked window?
Remove: internal door handle, remove window crank if manual crank, door panel, remove film/paper seal.
If is mechanical crank: check for worn out parts on gearing and racks (reinstall crank and wind window up and down). Replace worn parts.

If electrical window crank: check for power at solenoid. Try switch again and watch to see if solenoid engages and tries to crank.
Check to see if switch is broken. Try door switch and drivers door switch.
Pickup another solenoid and replace old one.

The process of removing car door panels is essentially the same for each make of car. You may need to remove these panels when your fixing locks or power windows, replacing window cranks, installing speakers or replacing the side mirrors. FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL - REMOVAL
Release door latch and open door.
Roll window down.
Remove window crank Window Crank - Typical , if equipped.
Remove screws attaching trim panel to door Door Trim Panel and Trim Panel Screw
CAUTION: Do not forcibly pull trim panel from door, damage to trim panel may occur.

Simultaneously lift upward and outward to release retainer steps from inner door panel Trim Panel Retainer
Disengage inside handle linkage rod from inside handle.
Disconnect speaker harness wire connector Speaker And Power Mirror Connector
Disengage power mirror wire connector, if equipped (driver's side only) Speaker And Power Mirror Connector
Disengage clips attaching power window/lock switch panel to door trim panel. Disengage wire connector from switch panel, if equipped Power Door Lock/Window Connector
Separate door trim panel from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
Position trim panel at door.
Engage wire connector for window/lock switch panel, if equipped. Engage clips attaching power window/lock switch panel to door trim panel.
Engage power mirror wire connector, if equipped.
Connect speaker harness wire connector.
Engage inside handle linkage rod to inside handle.
Align trim panel retainer steps with inner door panel and slide trim panel into place.
Install screws attaching trim panel to door.
Install window crank, if equipped.

Turn the window handle to where you can see a small 1/2" slot rt at its base where it meets the panel.you'll notice a small brass v shaped clip,you'll need hooked pick or something simular to hook this clip and pull it out of its slot,this release's window crank handle. Once this is off the rest of panel is held on by plastic panel clips that pull loose by pulling panel outwards from door ,and also by a few various screws. once panel is off temp. slide window crank back on and crank window all the way up. You then should have clear view of outer door handle. Handle has two rods attached to it,one for lock assy., one for latch release.This is the one you'll be looking at.Most likely you will find rod has came loose due to broken retainer clip at handle,or casting on handle itself has broken off.If clip is broke you can buy new clip at dealer or at some autoparts outlets,replace and reattach rod(make sure rod locks into place).If handle casting is broke will need handle replaced.It is held in place by two 10mm bolts,two rods preeviously mentioned. If handle is body color matched will need color code(on door jam sticker)to order handle from dealer to match.Lock assy will need to be transfered to new handle,it is held in by two spring clips.You notice two holes one on each side of lock,you will need to push release clips inwards through each hole to release lock and slide it out.to install just push down into newhandlle until clips engage. Look under the round part of the handle,see if there is a small allen screw there,if it is unscrew it until the handle comes off.if not send a new message

Uses a "c" clip to secure window handle. Requires a special clip removal tool, that can be purchased at the parts store. Hope this helps

put thin piece of cloth between window crank, twist it around, turn window crank up and down, then pull thin piece of cloth away from the round spinable crank ball (piece you hold) this shud remove interior hidden C clip. try again if you dont succeed. those tools they sell wont fit and will scratch the door panel. I am having probs in removing the door handle and lock mechanism... removed screw, yet still attched. grrrr

check that all screws have been removed from door. Hidden screws often found behind reflectors in door. Use prying tool and gently pull bottom of door panel away from doorm on/in door handle and near mirrow within door jam. Lay on the ground and look between the door and panle. You can usually see the plastic clips holding the door in place. Once bottom is loose you should be able to lift the door up and off of the door. Watch for power window and lock wires when removing. If manual windows, slide a rag behind window crank and move back and forth to remoce clip which holds crank on.
