i think it may be water in the gas

  • Anonymous Feb 22, 2011

get some gas link antifreeze and add a can of seafoam to a full tank of fuel if you think you have watered down gasoline.

Ever since i ran my isusu rodeo out of gas, it will crank but it does not want to crank. I've add additives to clean the injectors, i've changed the EGR sensor, with very little help. cld u give...

maybe it didnt run out of gas but just shut down, if it did run out it may have sucked up dirt from the botoom of the tank causing the fuelpump to lock up, what you can try to see if the pump starts again is to spray starting fluid into throtle body and cranking the engine, the engine should start and will die out after fluid is burnt but may stay running if power stays to pump and it frees up, you may have to try this a few times, if you spray and it doesnt start then you may have a diffrent problem. make sure to have someone hold pedal to floor and spray for 3sec, then release gas pedal connect hose to throtlebody and try to start. good day.

I am pushing gas pedal it wants to start but just doesnt' seem to fire up

It is fairly hard to diagnose from this, but I am assuming that it ran ok the last time you ran it.It may be flooded.hold the gas pedal to the floor and crank the engine.Do not be tempted to lift your foot or pump the pedal. It may have to crank for 20 seconds or more, but it should begin to fire up, first 1 cylinder, then 2 etc, again do not lift your foot until it is firing on all cylinders and revs up cleanly ,then lift but keep it revving a little until all gas is cleared and the plugs arent fouled.
hope this helps or get back with some more information

C-230 Kompressor: Ran out of gas, replace with high octane - full tank. Will not start, turns over but do not start. Any suggestions.

Try cranking the engine while holding the accelerator to the floor. It may take a few seconds of cranking so be patient. This may purge any air from the system. Good luck

The car will roll over just fine but will not start. Yesterday when i started it it started fine and shut off after it ran for about 2 minutes. Now it wont start.

The first thing i would do is to check and see if its a fuel problem, try sparying starting fluid into throtle, when spraying have aomeone hold pedal to floor then spray for about 2 seconds then have them release the gas pedal reinstall cover and then try to start, if it starts and runs for a few seconds then we know its a fuel problem and mostlikely its going to be a fuelpump, a little trick i do to test the pump is to have someone crank the engine while i beat the bottom of the tank with a rubber hammer and if it starts then the pump is bad, but always make sure to check wiring and connections going to pump. hope this helps,

Experienced recent cold weather. Car will not

It's flooded like you say.
If it's really flooded, you'll have to remove plugs and dry them off.
Install them.
Now when you crank engine, hold gas pedal to floor.
That will stop gas from spraying into engine.
You need to get the gas out of the engine for it to start.
Crank for 20-30 seconds with pedal to floor. Do this 3 times waiting 2-3 minutes inbetween cranks.
The starter needs to cool down.
Then after that start normally and see if it will start.
Remember if it will not start after 2 attempts, then the possiblity of it flooding is there and you'll have to clear out the gas by holding the pedal to the floor again.

1998 jaquar vanden plas won't start

The early V8s were bad to flood out. Try holding foot all the way down to floor when cranking.(This tells on board computer to shut off fuel while cranking) Crank like this for at least 45 seconds. Repeat this two or three times. The next time, while cranking, take your foot off the pedal for just a second, then back to the floor. These gives it just a little bit of fuel. Do this for five minutes or so. If it is flooded, you will hear that the longer you do this, the more the car sounds like it will run. If it catches, hold gas pedal half way down while running. This will clear the raw gas out of the system. If this doesnt work, in the trunk fuse box(take cover off) is a row of relays(brown 1 inch squares) in a "T" configuration beside fuses. Tap on them or swap them around. They are bad to stick. The second relay down in the center of the T should be the fuel pump relay. If these suggestions don't work, I would advise calling the dealer. But these are the most common faults. Good luck!
