Proper oil leval but no oil pressure even after a complete flush out by a mechanic.

  • john milligan Feb 17, 2011

no oil pressue on the mechanics gauge or the instrument cluster? if the cluster, then may be a bad sensor, if the mech's gauge then bad oil pump or oil pump drive shaft/gear. also could be a weak pressure relief valve for the oil pump

Either your oil pump, pump drive, pump coupler or pickup have failed, or you have a major bearing failure somewhere along the crankshaft.

Oil sludge in 2010 maxima

flushing your engine could only cause more problems as in sludge breaking loose and stopping up oil pick up screen which would cause low oil pressure which could be fatal to any motor only true fix to removing engine sludge would be to completely disassemble engine and clean with high pressure or have cleaned by machine shop in a vat with solvant

Oil pressure gauge high 1987 chevrolet blazer 350 5.7 liter

YOur best bet on a truck that old is to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge. They are available at any auto parts store or even Target or Walmart. Just buy the kit and follow the instructions. Mounting and routing the oil line is the hardest part.
It would be very unusual for the oil pressure to be maxed high in a 350 that is over 20 years old so i have to think the issue is the guage.

The Mechanic needs to verify it the oil pump system is working! He needs to take out the oil pressure sensor and install a Gauge to read the actual oil pressure. Typical oil pressure at idle would be "about 40PSI, 60PSI when running at highway speeds. (3-4bar). if he doesn't get a pressure reading then something is wrong in the oil system assembly. Do not run the engine if there is low or no pressure, you will ruin whatever it is that the mechanic "fixed" inside the engine. Not much more help i can give you without more details on what was "fixed" inside the engine. Good luck, Worm1855

I have a 2002 ford focus. two weeks ago after a oil change at a quick-lube joint. i noticed a oil leak on driveway. took it to my mechanic and he replaced valve cover gaskets and oil switch. i noticed...

if the place where you had the oil changed used a oil flush pressure system they could of damaged the seal as they not supposed to have that amount of pressure on them, this would damage all or most of the oil seals. a good oil change is were they dont use one of these systems they cause more problems over time. if you do an oil change its best to do it your self or at a garage you trust. and ask them to add flush cleaner this is a substance you add to the oil and run for 15 min in the engine and then do the oil change, you dont always need to use a flush only if there is a build up of oil carbon in the engine. some build up is normal but if you change the oil regular you don't need to flush as its only old oil that needs changing and flushing. hope this helps
