Question about 1996 Plymouth Voyager

1 Answer

1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE 3.3L R Problems originated with no lighter, no high beams, no power locks, then radio went out, checked fuses all were fine. Don't know if problems are related but now (a couple weeks after the above issues) the engine cuts out while driving. Did spray starting fluid and it started but soon died out again. Fuel pump was not kicking on. Fuel pump was replaced, the van started and drove about 1 mile then died. Removed the negative cable, let sit over night. Started the next day and drove for about 5 miles, no problems. Started later and drove for aprox 5-6 miles fine, then died out. We already checked the fuel pump relays they were fine. After removing the negative cable, waiting then replacing car will start but won't stay running. Seems that the fuel pump is resetting but have no idea what to do or check now??? We have also checked the crankshaft & camshaft position sensors. Thinking possibly a bad PCM??? Hoping you have some ideas. Thanks in advance!!!

This looks like you have the fuel tank vacuum. When is in repaus, the tank is sucking some air. When you start the engine, the fuel pump is sucking the fuel from tank and if this don't have a breathing hole or if this is clog or obturated then the fuel pump cannot **** anymore fuel and the engine stops. If you let it for a period of time alone then the tank might **** some air but not enough, so the engine will start but the simptome will show again. I had this simptomes with my car. Try to remove the fuel tank cap and see if you can drive more than 6-7 miles. If so, then the special breathing air hole in the fuel tank is clog. Identify it and clean it. I am not so sure about this problem but is just an ideea. Might be helpfull, who knows? Otherwise should be a PCM problem. In this case you should make a computer test. Good luck!

SOURCE: Where is the PCM on a 98 plymouth voyager located

Engine Computer is on the left front fender under the relay center.

Transmission computer is on the right front fender.

Body control module is inside the cabin, under the dash, behind the fuse panel.

SOURCE: Where is the PCM on a 98 plymouth voyager located

The pcm is located on the drivers side in behind the fuse/relay panel against the fenderwell. You will have to remove the screws holding the fuse/relay panel, and move it out of the way to get to the pcm if you decide to remove it. Make sure to disconnect the negative cable from the battery first before you do any type of work. Also make sure to ground yourself to the van body before you handle it. Without doing this will damage the pcm, (static electricity). hope this will help you.

Radio and windows stop working on 96 grand voyager what could be the issue?

Check the fuse panel for any blown, loose or missing fuses. Otherwise this is likely a wring issue. Has the vehicle been serviced for wiring or something else that requires auxiliary power?

SPARK THEN NO POWER TO SOME THINGS

Check all of the fuses and fusible link wires(smaller wires near battery + that are designed to blow like a fuse when there is a short or to much current draw) ; these wires are more flexible and have a softer coating and are usually heat tube sealed where they are joined to the standard wiring. Hope this helps!
